:puzzled: Ok, I have a question that I'm sure was answered before but I don't remember. Just what is the ( Certificate of Origin For a Vehicle) Is the date at the very top the date your car was built or is this something else. My date sounds pretty close. This is 1/10/02. I picked up the car from the dealer on 1/28/02. Any help?

Used to be called an MSO, Manufacturers Statement of Origin. To the best of my recolection that is the date your car was completed. Not 100% on that, but about 95%

the MSO or CO is the manufactures original "title" of the car.
I don't recall any perticular dates on these except the date that it is issued and that doesn't occur until the car is first sold to whoever, retail or wholesale.

The Certificate of Orgin says, "this certifies that the new vehicle described above is the property of the Corp.(Ford) and is transferred on the above date and under invoice number indicated, to the following dealer/distributor".
Mine has a date of 2-14-02 (how appropriate for a loving car) which is the transfer date from Mfgr to my dealer. Hope this clears up the questions. JRL, you were correct.

My MSO is dated April 9, 2002....the same date that appears on the bottom of my window sticker.
I think that is the date my car was started in the assembly process.

Read the entire thread. There are several documents that you can download with the info that you want.
There is also a text file on the newtbirddata site in the files section. - It's not as "clean" as the documents but is readable by just about everyone.
