Check out this "amount over invoice" auction of a new 2002. The seller is trying the same approach as one of the 2003 auctions. As of now they are $7,600 over invoice on a 2002 making a sales price of $44,598 for a 2002!

I guess people are NOT reading the details of the auction. It states the auction is for amount over invoice.
Someone is going to get a nasty surprise if they win the auction!

Freddymixmaster bid 20 times -- he has no hustory with e-bay. Sounds like a kid that screwed up an auction. There's too much of that on E-bay unfortunately.

I think an "over invoice" auction is a bit deceiving. Granted, it states it in the item heading and states it clearly in the auction. This car was first listed this past weekend and someone used the "buy it now" feature and bought it for $1500 over invoice. I guess the buyer made a mistake or backed out because the car was listed again a few hours later.
I noticed the current high bidder has been an e-bayer for a while, so they should know better!

Interesting approach. Granted you can read the information but a quick glance doesn't tell the whole story. Proves once again you better read carefully the requirements.
Someone will be very disappointed when they find out they could have gotten it much cheaper by visiting a dealership.
The (Buy Now) $1500 over invoice was a competitive price but this $7600 over invoice is a bit much. Bidding on line can be confusing and costly if you aren't careful.
Thanks for putting this on the forum. Will sure make me think before I bid on items.

David- I agree with you. Even though it's very clearly stated, it is very deceptive. Shame on them, and I hope every auction winner backs out on them. How much you wanna bet EBay stops sellers from doing this soon?
