Now that many of us have our new Thunderbird's, I was wondering if you were to start all over again and order a new Thunderbird, would you make any changes? Color changes? Wait for a 2003? Any other changes that you would make?

For me... I would sure love to have that black/white interior coming for 2003! However, I do love the red/black interior and get a LOT of positive comments about it. Overall, I think that I have gotten my "over MSRP" worth of enjoyment! It's a pleasure to drive the Thunderbird. It's not my everyday car, so it is a treat to drive it! I still like the white/white exterior and probably wouldn't make any changes as far as color is concerned.

The only thing I probably would have done different is not purchased the '02 Benz first (which I subsequently traded in on the Bird)...that cost me!
As far as changes on the 'Bird, when I look back on the 55-57, I'm sure original owners of the 55 thought the 56 was better, or even the 57, maybe even "trading up". Each year will have its advantages...but looking back, I still like the 55 the best, even with all its first-year quirks.
Nope, no changes on my Bird or choice. Even with improvements in torque, HP etc. still to come, I'm gonna hang with my 2002!

I'd definately add the heated seats, electronic rearview mirror and better lit visors. Other than those things, I can't fault the car at all. 12,000 miles of pure bliss:biggrin:

:smokin: Tim, really good question, I just talked to Skip from the MATC yesterday about this same subject. What I told him is that I am glad I got the 02 Bird. No one after us will get the same reaction that we have gotten in the past year. As far as the car goes I,we, would have liked to have had the coral color off the bat. But I love my blue on blue as it is. Not much I would like changed about the car except for some of the things talked about in the past year. No big things, just some finishing touches that weren't there for the 02's. I love this car.:pbj::pbj::pbj:

I love my White on White with black accent interior. The only change would be purchase date. I would have bought it sooner. It has been such a fun car. This is a car that I can see me driving 30 plus years from now.

Been reading some of the new 03
features. No big items for us. 15hp would
not be that noticeable. At first the
white inserts would have been a consideration.
But over the years the folks and myself have
had 5 cars with white leather and when I
think back how hard they were to keep
clean, would decline on the white inserts.
As for the saddle opt, would have to see it,
right now the King ranch truck comes to mind.
Happy the wait is over, and changed from
yellow to Blue.

I like the way things turned out with ours. Ours was late enough to miss the 2 recalls so that has been a plus. All year long had wished that we had looked harder for a dealer selling at MSRP before actual ordering was even possible so we had to endure a long wait once our order was finally placed.

I wouldn't change a thing. fell in love with the yellow concept, put a deposit down February 99 and the official order did not go in until the first day Ford accepted orders, January 8, 01. That gave us two years and a month to change our minds, do something different, change colors etc. We did none of this. We stuck with yellow full accent interior premium and have 0 regrets & 100% satisfaction.:fordsrule::thumbsup:

I can not say how much I LOVE my new bird - The one thing I would change would be the sunvisors - They should be less flimsy, the warning sticker should be removable (Or much smaller - less vibrant) and they would look really sharp if they were the same color as the interior accent (a la vintage Ford convertibles) At least the sliding mirror cover is neat! And afterall, there is always vinyl dye!

I love my blue 02. I've had it since Dec 14, 2001 and have about 5000 miles on it. The only thing I would add to this car is air conditioned seats. I live in Houston, and certainly don't need heated seats, but cooled ones would sure be nice. We bought a 2003 Expedition with climate controlled seats. The cooled seats are great. My 15-year-old son turned the heat on my wife's seat without her knowing it--she thought she was having hot flashes. Oh, the joy of having a teenager in the house!
Regarding the warning stickers on the visors, they do come off. Get a jumbo blow dryer, gloves, and get busy. Mine came off relatively easily, in one piece, and are now in the scrap book with the rest of the car stuff.
