I would have chosen the 5 speed manual transmission and 2 driver memory seats if Ford had made them available.

Since I already have heated seats, I would probably choose now to also have cooled seats. The memory seat button is also a nice feature.

I can not say how much I love my T-bird - The only option I would have been interested in when I ordered mine would have been a manual tranny.

But I have learned to live without it!

Joy: -- I had a new GTO convertible back in 1965 with a white interior. It was the hardest thing to keep clean. When I got rid of that car, a few cars later, I got a '67 Buick GS400 Hardtop with a white interior. Same thing, impossible to use and keep clean. I vowed I'd NEVER own a white interior again. I agree they are beautiful to look at, but I'll look at someone elses, not mine. :wow:

Here's my list:

1. Break-away outside mirrors (was surprised it didn't already have this...was told by the rep it would 'interrupt' the styling...I think that's a cheap reply...most upscale vehicles have them to prevent the mirrors from breaking off if they're bumped or hit).

2. Auto-dim rear-view mirror

3. An auto-repeat on the CD player (so you can play a single song over and over)

4. An integrated tape player to work with CD...allows me to listen to instruction tapes while traveling on business.

5. Updated wheels (the standard premium wheels on the Bird are the thing I like least about the car).

6. A memory system like the Lincoln LS that works for both the steering wheel AND the seat, programmable for different people (like my wife's BMW).

7. AND last but not least, a retractable soft-top that disappears completely under cover like the old Birds used to (no boot or tonneau cover required!).

JimDube,
I would like to see most of the things that have been
stated so far. Mainly the CD track repeat. We have that
on the Kenwood changer in our '57 and can play FUN,
FUN, FUN over and over. It also has a disk repeat
for doing 1 disk over and over.
I still don't understand why there isn't a rigid/solid
boot cover for the soft-top. My two '89 TC's came
with solid covers and they're 13 years old, so its not
a technology problem, it can be done. The boot cover
is hinged in the back and has an electric release for the
latches. But that car doesn't have a rear window
defroster in the back glass of the soft-top, only in the
hardtop.

Yeah, nice lines. I liked the lines of the early Birds (thru 66) where the top totally emersed into the trunk...I enjoyed my Benz where the hard top folded away into the trunk...at the flick of the switch and 26 seconds later, you couldn't even tell it had been there...smooth rear quarter panel with no indication of a top hidden underneath.

Maybe one day...
