Hey Everybody,
As a group we have had some fabulous gatherings over the past four years. It all started with George getting us involved with the Early Ford V8 Show in Fitchburg back in '03 and grew into one awesome bash at John and Deb's place last July.

Well, it's time to meet in the middle. Susan and I are planning a gathering in June that will center around one of our biggest car shows of the season. The CT Children's Place (www.ctchildrensplace.org (http://www.ctchildrensplace.org/)) is a non-profit organization that takes in abandoned and abused kids and gets them back on track through education, therapy and a home style living environment. Each June they put on a benefit car show that attracts rods, customs and street cars from all over the area. The kids love it and it's a great way to bring them some fun and activity to otherwise hard lives. The show is always held on Father's Day, so this year it will be June 17th.

The plan is to do a long weekend event, starting Saturday morning with a cruise to Gillette Castle in East Haddam. From there a short trip further south to Mystic Seaport and Village http://www.mysticseaport.org/. From there back up to our house for a Thunderful BBQ. If time allows afterwards, a cruise to a local car show we put on every Saturday night. A fresh start on Sunday morning with a group breakfast and then over to the Children's Place for the main event.

I won't be making as many events this year as I've just been informed son #2 is getting married in July.....and needs a house. Even though the bride to be and her entire family are from New York, the wedding will be here, so I've got to pick up the slack that the brides parents are typically expected to do. Well, today was such an awesome day that Susan and I did some traveling to make arrangemants for June. I have a contract coming on Monday for the hotel, so I should be able to give you all info on how to make your reservations Monday night.

We got back from Florida on Thursday afternoon. Took care of some friends who were visiting Carlisle on Friday. Took them to Gettysburg !!!! Then washed the motor home to get it ready for a trip on Saturday, 21 April. Put the motor home in the garage and tried to start the Tbird. Dead battery but the car just jumped out at me. Gosh red is pretty. Anyhow we had a house full of kids and grandkids over for Sunday dinner. Today I finally got a chance to look at my emails. One look at the planned event in Portland and my mind was made up. Norma took another minute or so to say let's do it. So Dino we are planning to join you in June. We have reservations beginning Friday evening through Sunday. This is probably the only event we can make this summer as we leave for the West coast and the Northwestern states on July 1. We look forward to meeting with old friends again and meeting new ones.

Those of you coming in Friday night, please post your approx. arrival time.

For those coming in on Saturday morning, we will be leaving the hotel at 10:00 am to head down to Mystic Seaport. Please let me know if you are planning to arrive in Glastonbury any later then that, and I can send you directions to the Seaport.

The admission for the Seaport will be $14.00 per person (group rate, down from $17.00 per). We will have lunch there (already thinking of ya Chuck!)

The admission for the Gillette Castle tour will be $5.00 per person.

Here's where I'm at. Looks like I'm going to have to have surgery on this shoulder. I've been in physical therapy for months now and it's not getting better.

It would be ideal to wait for the fall for the surgery, but I so want to dance with my son at his wedding in July and he being 6'2", I just can't reach.

I'm meeting with the surgeon next week......if he thinks I'll be healed by the mid July, I'm going for it now.

Met with the surgeon today. I'm scheduled for surgery next Friday. He said if I waited 'til after the wedding the surgery would be more involved with a longer healing period.

I'm so bummed I can't make it, and won't be able to meet the other members of TBN making the trip up. :sad:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll be mobile enough for Thunderama.

Can't commit but I am going to try to make it Sunday. I presume all of you will be caravaning up from the hotel. Do you have any idea what time you will be arriving at the show?

Good to hear from you! The show is at the Connecticut Children's Center on RT140 in East Windsor. We are going to be leaving the Hilton Garden Inn at 8:30 Sunday morning to get to the show by 9:00.

And yes, Portland is where we live. We are taking a day long excursion on Saturday, ending with a cookout at our house.

Hope you can at least join us for the show on Sunday.

Yes, I've been checking the weather what seems like every half hour since yesterday!! I'm also hearing a sunny and warm weekend awaits us! Maybe you were right about the rain last weekend and not getting to the Glastonbury show...this might mean the rest of the season could be a winner!

Louise and I also want to thank you both for a wonderful relaxing and enjoyable weekend. We almost made it home with the top down. The last 30 miles the sky opened up. I made it home yesterday without so much as one raindrop. When I was halfway home I took the plastic bag off where the drivers window used to be and put the top down. All day today I will be dealing with insurance companies, glass dealers and body shops. I need to at least get the window replaced before next weekend for Thunderama. I'll post pictures from the trip whenever I finally get squared away.

Thanks so much to Dino and Susan for all their hard work. The whole event went as smooth as clockwork. I think everyone enjoyed themselves (even me with a busted car) and that we all took home some great memories (even me with a busted car).

It was great to finally meet Bob & Norma and Mike & Jana and to also see Tom & Louise and all the regular New England members.

I left my GPS in the car while it was parked overnight at the Hotel. Some little sh*t broke the drivers window and reached in and pulled it out. Also got paint damage to the upper part of the door and the chrome plastic strip around the windshield on the left side was dented. They also reached into the console compartment (without opening the door) and all they could find was the Tiffany diecast that Dino gave me that I put out at car shows. They took that too!!! I guess as a souveneer. Dino gave me another one before we left. Thanks Dino.

I didn't let any of this bother me and enjoyed the rest of the trip.

However, today!!!

My agent tells me that with the deductibles I carry, I'm only going to get the window replaced and I'm on the hook for the rest.

Add our thanks to Dino and Sue for a great week end. It was nice to be with some "nesters" again after about an absence of a year. We arrived back in Carlisle at about 4:15 Monday after a good trip with very little traffic. 332 miles door to door. We too enjoyed meeting some new folks who share our love of the Thunderbird. We'll look through our pictures and submit any that may be a little different.

WOW!! What a great weekend we had! The time passed much too quickly. To everyone that shared it with us, Susan and I would like to express our thanks for coming and making it so memorable. You are all very special friends that we will cherish for a long time.

It was so nice to see Bob & Norma again, two of the nicest people anyone could hope to meet.

It was Mike & Jenna's beautiful black Bird that took the prize in our "Best Shine" contest on Sunday (I think he must polish the car weekly!)

John and Deb, you two are always the life of any gathering! I can still see John "dabbing" and Deb making us all laugh about it.

Doug & Brenda's magnificent VMG took a Runner Up trophy in our class at the Children's Place Show on Sunday... Well deserved!!

Serge & Nicole, what can be said. You came the furthest of all and we are so happy you were able to make the occasion that much more special!

During the weather we got on Saturday, Roger & Terry's MSB saw it's first rain ever. I know it was tough on him, but Roger held up pretty well (I still remember how I felt the first time mine got rained on!)

Lee & Cindy, you're always a big part of our group. Thank you both for sharing the weekend with us.

Thanks to Tom & Louise for being here, I hope we get to see you guys again very soon (keep thinking about coming to the LI Event!)

Chuck, as always you're one of the best! None of these events would be the same without your special sense of humor!

And last, but never least, is our friend Wes. He's the guy you can always rely on and truly is a big kid at heart! Even with the unfortunate turn of events for him, he still kept a smile on his face and everyone around him laughing.

Our neighbors were in awe of the incredible display of Thunderbirds at the house on Saturday, you just don't see that around here. A few of them were taking pictures of their own! This was so much fun, I think we'll make it an annual event.

Now it's on to Thunderama and more good times!! See you this weekend!!!
