Looks as though the Thunderbird Blue rolled with the hardtop on. It only had 16k miles on her. I would not post the interior pics. It is advertised with a FL repairable salvage title which I find sort of hard to believe with the windshield/roll bar being toast.

This 02 Evening Black didn't fare much better .... It is listed as a TX parts only car/non-repairable. Go Figure.

Glad to report that the TBB with FL tags, does NOT belong to anyone we've cruised with. Checked the Tag's against all the TBB's on our previous cruises that we've had with Tom.

Dang, they even tore up the airbag...

Both of those look pretty bad, Joe. Very sad. :bawl:
Can you imagine how upset we would all be if either of them belonged to anyone we knew? It's bad enough just seeing the pics. Thank God, they didn't belong to any of our friends! From the pics, the drivers might not have made it out. Just TERRIBLE!

And this is why our Birds become more rare as each day passes...

I'm glad that someone wrecked their bird or I would not have mine. The car came from CA with less than 2000 miles on it, but the parts came from Texas, Florida, Iowa, and Utah. Not to mention FORD who over charged me.

these birds don't look like they do so hot in a roll over. I would not want to be in that Blue one.

I guess best thing is just duck down when it happens. Our cars don't have what we call 'active safety' in Europe. But then again they look better than cars that have.. A T-Bird would look dreadful with the safety bars a TT has for that. Life is about making choices all the time:roll:

Fritz, that's a good idea to duck, but the centrifugal force is going to work against you in a roll over situation. I've often wondered if ducking would do any good anyway.

I sure hope no one was sitting in the passenger seat in that TVB car, R.I.P. if there was...

Looks like a design flaw in the windshield pillars. :frown:
They should have held up better in a roll over than that.

Phil, as I stated in my first post I did not post the interior shots for just that reason. I was surprised the salvage yard posted the interior pics. They were very graphic. From those pics, I doubt whoever was driving that 02 TB survived.

These showed up today: the merlot took a t-bone hit pretty well I thought. Notice how the dash took part of the impact on the interior shot. This really hurt my eyes as this is one of my favorite color combinations. I think if I didn't have the 007 I would have a merlot with sand. I wonder if the top will show up on EBay. The car was just totalled out last month by the insurance co.

There is not much left of this 02 Evening Black but parts. It does not look repairable to me as a novice as I would guess it would be cost prohibitive to repair it. That said, I am real surprised what is advertised as a repairable.

It is interesting to me to inspect these future parts cars because it gives an idea of how well they were engineered to sustain a bad crash. The windshield/roll bar was a real eye opener for me.

They will not sell the top separate from the car on this 02 EB which I thought was strange (Yes, I called). Though the rocket scientist I spoke with hand no clue how the top worked but swore it was not damaged. Go Figure.

Gotta give 'em an 'A' for improvision though, love the door containment strap, and the fancy hardtop "strips" attaching it to the car.

I'm not sure this was a simple rollover. If you look at the pictures again, it appears something like another car or a fixed object impaled the top and windshield into the cockpit. I've seen other rollover pictures where the windshield frame held up just fine. Still wouldn't want to try it though...

My goodness...would not surprise me if it were youngsters driving these cars. They all look like being caught up in very heavy accidents, but somehow it also looks like they rolled over. That usually happens when drivers loose control over the car. In what we call a 'superannuated' or a limited accident. (is that the proper translation?)

I used to drive a 4wheel drive Quattro TT 225bhp. That is an unusual car. Very stable and very hard to get of the road. It drove 265km/hour. It can go with an amazing speed around corners. But one should not test its abilities on public roads. Because it causes most extreme accidents to happen. Fortunately these cars cost around $80.000 in Europe. So not much youngsters get to own one. Otherwise fatal accidents would be a common issue.

The T-Bird as we have is an unusual car too. Lots of power, very easy to drive, yet very heavy and not designed to drive excessively. And when it flips over it is not designed to protect the driver.

btw..don't get me wrong....I would never buy a Saab because of the safety issues. I consider those as the most safe cars to drive. For me personality is important in a car and besides that a bit of risk is natural and therefore I preferr a T-Bird any time above what Saab has to offer.

When I saw the burned Thunderbird on E-Bay I thought about the fact that the battery is in the trunk. Glad to realize it was only a well done plastic model of the car I own. I can't imagine what I would be thinking if NHRedBird was in that condition on a flat bed truck.

NC Salvage/Non-Repairble Title: 23k miles. NC law requires plates are pulled and returned to DMV from salvage vehicles by salvage operators though enforcement is lax and the law is often ignored.

Jim, My point was that the TB 02 FL car has a repairable title. I doubt it could be fixed. The Evening Black has a non-repairable title. Apparantly somebody thought that it could be fixed. Both look totaled to me but then I am a novice.

YEA BO, I CAN'T IMAGINE ANYONE WALKING AWAY FROM THE BLUEBIRD...AND IT HAD THE HARDTOP ON...HATE TO THINK WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE WITHOUT IT....

I REMEMBER A PERSONAL INJURY CASE SOME YRS BACK...OF COURSE TEENAGERS WERE DRIVING...HAD A MOONROOF, IT WAS OPENED, THEY HAD ACCIDENT...KID IN PASSENGER SEAT WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT...THE CAR FLIPPED AND SKIDDED ON ITS ROOF...KID IN PASSENGER SEAT LIVED BUT HE WAS HURT REAL BAD, HIS HEAD WAS OUT THE MOONROOF BEING DRAGGED ALONG THE GROUND...

MADE A MENTAL NOTE OF THAT...A MOONROOF IN SOME SITUATIONS CAN BE ALMOST AS DANGEROUS AS A CONVERTIBLE...

Back when I was into model car building, one of my favorite things to do with models that did not come out to my standards would be to put them in an oven to soften the plastic and then smash them into something. I would then add burn marks and other distress marks with additional paints. I would then build a small scene with train scenery, Some really came out neat looking.
Yea I was err.. am a sicko!

I surmise that the Blue Tbird may not have rolled over but rather a large truck was hit by the car and the trailer caught the windshield and roof peeling it back. Or the Semi Trailer backed into the car not seeing it until the rear end of the trailer demolished the top of the car including the windshield. The sides of the car don't show the typical rollover damage one would expect.

When you say graphic, do you mean that there were more than just car bits on the inside?
