My daughter lives in Key West and keeps seeing a black bird there. Are you a member?

To my knowledge, I'm the only (part-time) resident member of the Keys. There are very few Birds in the Conch Republic, and most of them are tourists. The Key West black Bird just might be Navy, not a Conch.

Thanks for replying. My daughter, Michelle, manages Key West By the Sea Condo's. She, and also my son, Scott, who owns a landscaping operation there, keep telling me they see that black bird but always going the other direction and they don't recognize the driver. They have both lived there for about 10 years.

While in Key West in June, I saw a Black Bird in front of a restaurant a couple of times. Walter's Grill over on Flagler. Unfortunately, we never had a chance to stop and ask for the owner.

My daughter has a vet and so does my son in law. He also has a restored 81 Firebird. They want me to come down and dragrace. I know I couldn't beat them in the bird but hell, how do you dragrace on an island 2 mi by 4 mi?

Bill, take your son-in-law up on if it is a restored 81 Firebird to stock specifications. They were weaklings. They had a 301 turbo V8 that put out around 200HP (210 at the most). Saw a 1/4 mile test on the internet that showed 17.02 sec @ 82.1 MPH. You could blow his doors off with your 04 model.

Yes, I wondered why he chose an 81 for something to restore. I think he got it from a buddy who had started restoring it and ran out of money. I haven't been to the keys for a couple of years now as I'm a "former" redhead and the noseeums eat me alive.
