I am a new member and have just bought a 2003 white Bird and love it. I live in Western Kentucky and have not seen many in this area. I have just put 1500 miles on the car and the Transmission Indicator is showing E instead of what gear I am in.
When I lock the car the Theft Indicator light continues to flash.
Wonder if any of you have had this problem.

Gary, What you mention about the theft indicater is normal, they all do this. Your other problem with the tranny, I have no idea what that might be but someone here may be able to answer your question on this.
PS, Welcome to the Nest.

Gary: -- welcome to the nest. The best thing you can do is go to the dealer for warranty repair of the indicator. :smokin:

Gary,
Welcome to the nest.
I know this suggestion may sound off the wall, but is your speedometer working properly? You stated you had just turned 1500 miles, so I assume the odometer works. I wonder if your speedometer cable may be the culprit. This is a long shot, because normally if one did not work, neither would the other.
I have heard on other makes of vehicles, (not the T-Bird) if the speedometer cable has been tampered with or has failed, an "E" or "ERROR" will illuminate (normally on the odometer). Other than that, I have not a clue on what it could be.:puzzled:
When you find out, please post.

I recall reading in the owner's manual that an "E" is an indicator of a problem. Do you have the Select-Shift Transmission? I'd check my manual but it's in the trunck of my car and the car is resting in my brother garage.
Good Luck. Please let us know what the out come is.

Hello my name is Sam Silvers from Georgia. I just purchased a torch red 2003 Bird with 36,00 miles on it for 14.500. It is in great shape it still had the original factory tires on it. I purchased it a couple hunderd miles from my home and fortunately made it back to my residence with only one knot on a front tire. My first trip was to the tire shop. It has both the hard/soft top and am really enjoying the car.

I don't know much about the E code other than what I have read here.It was a problem with the 2003. I remember reading something about having the dealer "reflash the tranny computer" Do a search here and you should come up with more info.
Welcome
