I saw two 1956 yellow birds this weekend, they were 2 different shades of yellow. The darker one I was told was Goldenrod. The lighter one almost matched my inspiration yellow paint exactly. Someone told me it was "whisper of gold". Anyone know? Dot I'm sure you can answer this one.

The only yellow color I know Ford offering in '56 was "goldenrod yellow" It is almost identical to the new "inspiration yellow". Could the other color be a mis-match in restoration? It is possible......:nono:

I'm not sure if it was a restored color or not, the owner couldn't tell me the color. The goldenrod I saw was much more of a bright yellow than my new one. It was that owner that told me about the whisper shade. Next time I run into the lighter bird owner, I'm going to question him more

YLO BRD,
I just dug out my Data Plate decoder for '55-'57 Birds and
the Goldenrod Yellow was for '55 and Goldenglow Yellow was for '56.
'57 was Inca Gold. '55 also had a Yellow and Black interior available.
There is no reference to other Yellows. There has always be some
controversy over what shade is correct. I have seen 4 White cars at a show
and they were all a different shade of white. After 45 years its hard
to really tell what is correct. If it looks good and is not a trailer queen,
I say enjoy the car and be happy you got to see it........

George, Thanks a million for looking that info up for me, I knew you would have it! Both cars were beautiful, and next time I see them, I'll have a camera ready.
