He may not say much and he doesn't have a Thunderbird (maybe someyear in the future - you know - inheritence thing) but he joined yesterday! Please welcome our son, a351must2!!:pbj:
What's the "1st" for this forum? 3 family members from 1 family are on this board now - with their own handles.

btw - his handle is where his interest lies. Mustang II with a 351 windsor block stuffed inside. Ask him how it moves.
Now why did he join us? I'm afraid to say - I told him to read this forum so he could keep track of what George & I do. He lives 2000 miles away and I don't write or call much.

Thanks for the welcome mom...

Yes, I'm here to keep track of my parents...she does call me, usually when her computer breaks.

I'm a regular member on a couple other boards that go along with the cars I drive... http://forums.stangnet.com , http://www.turboford.org , and http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums

I've had 3 Thunderbirds so far...2 were rollovers and 1 was a "wreck" ... all 3 were "aerobird" parts cars for my favorite engine, the 2.3L Turbo 4-cyl.

My primary car is a '96 Eclipse turbo (8.995sec 1/8th mile). My toy is a '78 Mustang II with a "mild" 351W and 5spd, 310rwhp/353rwtq, 8.034sec 1/8mile (traction limited). My closest to stock Mustang is a '77 Mach 1 with a 302 and 5spd that runs 8.295 in the 1/8th.

The current project is a '78 Mustang II coupe that's a little over 1/2 way done with almost a complete restoration. This one has a 2.3L EFI Turbo and is expected to make around 250hp at the wheels before I start tuning it.

BTW, I know dad will read this...I'll be going to PIR tomorrow (was SIR) and find out what the 351W will do in the 1/4 mile finally.

351,

Welcome, having been a Mustang GT owner since 10/82 ('83 302, '96, '98, '00 all 4.6L) I know the love of the car. It was the Bird that did the Stangs in, my first automobile love. I am still toying with the idea of buying another '83 to play with but right now other things seem to be getting into my wallet.

Anyway, welcome aboard!:fordsrule

Sorry Dot, but I think we 're ahead of you. My daughter joined about two ago, giving us three members. She doesn't post, just reads. She too is waiting for her inheritence.

SixPac,

I know it is off topic but that is one pretty blue, I have only seen one in person, at a closing speed of about 160 mph. Obviously I didn't get a real good look.

a351must2-

Wanna race??? Just kidding, you'd smoke my bird. Welcome to the nest! You'll really enjoy it here. BTW, you probably already know it, but your mom is the greatest. I can't say the same for your dad only because I haven't met him yet...

RTBRD,

If you saw one at 160 mph, it wasn't me. Will these Birds go that fast?

Sixpac,
Not quite that fast!!!

I think RTBRD meant a "closing speed" of 160 mph, meaning the combined speed of his and the other car coming towards each other (a term used by military fighter pilots for one).

Thought I'd post my weekend results...I was a bit disappointed by my MPH, and now know as a fact that my 1/8th mile times from Evergreen Speedway are BS.

which one were you? bud or harley? now if you were bud..., I'd think they gave you the wrong slip. If you were "harley" then I'd just do it again. Each time will be different anyway.

Bud was a bone stock F150...I was a long way ahead of him at the finish.

The first two times I raced I had almost identical MPH @ 103 and ran 13.95 then 13.86 and the difference I saw was the 60' time dropping from 2.3 to 2.2. The 3rd time I ran, I took the traction device out of the hatch (100lb speaker box) and still had a 2.2 60', but gained the 2mph and dropped .2sec.

BTW, I lost bad on my first race to a bone stock Mustang...2003 Cobra on street tires 13.2 @ 110mph, first time he'd ever raced it.

I only raced 3 times because I had a pair of header bolts come loose and blew out part of the header gasket. The launches were also a lot harder than I'm used to and I was nervous about breaking my ride home.

a351must2,
I'd a beat the F150 with the '57. I didn't run too good at the races on May 10th. Couldn't get below 11.36 in the 1/8th. Last year I was running in the high 10's and the year before I ran a 10.44.
I know I could beat a F150 that didn't break under 12 seconds.
Must be time for you to get the Ranchero running good and get a trailer for hauling the Mustang to the races.........
