Hi all, :wavey:

It's been a while since I've had time to come and snoop around. Sure have missed you all and Destin also, rats.

Anyway, yesterday when I got home and put the top up I noticed that the driver's side did not look properly seated. Got back in and saw that the latch was not engaged in the header. Something has broken and when you move the latch handle forward, the latch itself just dangles. I can manually place it in the reciever and it will latch properly but it is broken. I'll try and get it to the shop sometime next week and let you all know the outcome.

I went a ways back in the postings but did not see anything like this mentioned. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi Joe. I have been a daily reader (even if not a daily driver) and your post is the first I've heard of this problem. welcome back, you've been missed.:smokin:

I saw something about this problem before and didn't know what they meant until mine did it. The J-Hook loosened up a little and then it would turn around backwards by itself. It wouldn't grab the top unless you turned it the proper way. If I tightened it all the way it was backwards also.

I was able to fix it myself in about 5 minutes. I removed it and coated it with Loctite threadlocker and screwed it back in. I latched the top so it would dry in the correct orientation and it has been fine since.

Well, it was a pretty easy fix. I finally got out and looked at it and what it turned out to be was the pin that the latch rotates on had slipped out of one of the holders. This allowed the spring to disengage. It was just a matter of repositioning the spring and pushing the pin back into the holder. Took all of 3 minutes to fix.
