I can't believe it but as the owner of 3 Corvettes I just bought my 1st T Bird since I was a kid! My first T Bird was a 60 sunroof in turquois which I bought in 1968. I had several after that my favorites being the 66 Landau and convertible. The T Bird of my youth has long since gone when it lost all of it's classic beauty and luster as the models progressively became more lackluster and downright ordinary.
I admired this new edition but would not take the plunge when prices were going as high as 10 grand over sticker when the car came out. However, since sales have gone flat due to the economy and other circumstances I was able to buy a brand new 2002 leftover at 6 grand below sticker!!!I was about to buy a beautiful thunderbird blue, until I came to a website and saw the premium equiped inspiration yellow with the full interior package.WOW! I HAD to have that color combo! I see T Birds in red white and mostly blue on the road from time to time which are all oustanding but hardly ever if at all see the yellow. My dealer located the only one left on Long Island and I drove 50 mile to see it and bought it on the spot! I don't care how badly Ford marketed the car or whatever problems caused this car to go flat in sales but for my money it sure looks like a future classic that I could not pass up for the deal I got it for.
Great to see the T Bird is back on the right track for however long that last.

I can't believe I now own a new T-Bird after a 30 plus year drought. My first Bird was a 60 Sunroof in turquois. I fell in love with the T Birds after that and owned many early to mid 60's models but concentrated on the 66. I had some hardtops, Landaus and a Powder Blue and Diamond blue Convertibles,However I have not bought any Birds since the Marque went down the tubes over the years.
Now it's fun time again and I took the plunge on a fully loaded 2002 leftover in inspiration yellow with the full interior package and yellow hard top. I know some people that paid anywhere from 7 to 10 grand above sticker when the car first came out so I feel blessed to get a great deal on the 02 at 6 grand below sticker since sales have go flat due to the economy and other reasons.
Great car and in my opinion a future classic!

Thanks for the BIG T-Bird welcome folks! Dot your site is great and helped me to make the plunge and get lucky on finding the color I wanted. My log on name is derived from my business and as far as the Vettes go I have an 86 white convertible with 18,000 miles an 89 Convertible with 10,000 miles and a new 2002 white convertible. The love of Corvettes and T-Birds come from my youth in the late 60's but the problem with the Bird was that Ford dropped the ball after the 71 Model (which was the last decent Bird, all though I had a couple of 1960's and many 66's)so I lost interest in the T-Bird.However this new version is just great!Looks great and looks like a real fun car to own and certainly looks like an instant collectable.By the way,I haven't even gotton mine yet! I am picking up the new arrival tomorrow. I had it flat bedding from a dealership that had the last inspiration yellow on Long Island and 60 miles from my dealership.I drove the 60 miles in the pouring rain yesterday to give the car a once over and bought it on the spot. However,God forbid I'd let them drive the new baby to my dealership and put the unnecessary 60 miles on it before Daddy has a chance to drive Her.
PS
Dosen't that mint green color for 04 look great?

Errrrr..... Lon,
Re-read Lou's first message, while he said he went to look for a "beautiful thunderbird blue" (the best color) he wound up buying a yellow one instead.

That was a great web site of your photos of the yellow bird! I believe that the car looks great in all colors. The dealership in which I do business had only white or blue.I always wanted yellow as my first choice but there were none to be had.I was getting cold feet on the deal with the blue one so I told the manager I really wanted a yellow one thinking that He would tell me the deal was off because He couldn't locate one. When He called me back with the exiciting news that he located the last one on Long Island I happily pulled the trigger!Production numbers are 7,500 in Thunderbird Blue and only 3,700 in Inspiration yellow.

My first choice also was yellow...in fact I had one on order when the Blue came in. My wife greatly desired the blue over the yellow, and so here I am.
Saw a yellow on the road two days ago while out taking a walk...it IS a gorgeous color! Lou, glad you're here with us!

Quite by accident I came across the Motor Trend magazine with the article about the new T-Birds. It had a picture of a yellow one on the cover. I think that was sometime in 1999. Well I started "Lusting" after one while reading that article. But, for one reason or another I did not get my yellow bird.
Then, about two weeks ago, I ran across one in my local Ford Dealer's showroom and just couldn't resist. So far I have not been disappointed.

Welcome Lou!
I am also a Vet and T-Bird owner, do we have good taste or what! 2003 Premium white, and 1977 Vette, also white with mirror T-Tops.
I think the economy as well as people just needing room for all the kids and their toys, is keeping the sales down. That would pretty much answer the question "Mom, why do only old people have cool cars?" That question came from a friend's little girl.

Welcome Lou,
This is a great group and if you can spend the time checkout the techinal threads, I have found several things I will be discussing with the service manager at my local Ford dealership.
I too got a bargain on my red bird. As VP Lending for a credit union I deal with this dealer on a daily basis. I bought the owner's wifes demo. It had 3000 miles and not a ding on it. He sold it to me for invoice less the 3% dealer holdack and there was a $2000 cash back from FMC. I bought a new car ( not plated ) for $2000 under low blue book. So there are bargains out there.
