I am gauging interest to meet Saturday, October 18th for our first event here in Raleigh. Hopefully, others will step forward from around the four state region in the future and we can have a round-up every 3 months or 4 times a year in different parts of the area.

For now, I am negotiating with the Angus Barn, a culinary "beef eaters haven" and local institution for 50 years and still family owned, for a discounted buffet or select entrée price. That said, to negotiate the best possible cost I need a ballpark attendance number as the Barn as we locals call it can be quite pricey solo. With a group of 30 or more their prices are much more reasonable or have been in the past.

They also have ample parking and are willing to block off an appropriate number of spaces for us.

So, check your calendars and Let's do it !!! :friday:

Hi Folks:

I had to call today and cancel our event due to the deposit deadline and lack of response for the event. :frown:

Thanks to Bill, Scott, and Sam & Nancy for signing up and supporting the Chapter.

Perhaps, I can try again in October.

Don't give up Joe....perhaps a good way to start is to attend a local car show with whoever from your membership would show up. Once people get out and meet others they may join in and you can expand from there.
We started out with 2-3 TBirds cars, at an airport car show, back six+ years ago and now have one of the finest groups of people I know:cheers:

Joe, please stick with it. I couldn't support this until after the 1st of the year, but I think it is a good idea. I do believe the economy and gas prices are making everyone stick close to home. There are a huge base of Thunderbird owners in North Carolina, but please know there are several existing clubs to compete with. My opinion is; you can't be in too many clubs.

Ditto.

Up here in New England, we plan many small events rather than just one mega event. That way, the people that can't show up on a particular date due to commitments can always show up at the next one.

Don't worry about the group discounts, just eat off the regular menu....that's what we normally do anyway.

Sorry we didn't respond Joe. but you know WE WILL SUPPORT YOUR EFFORTS...
Don't get upset or bow out yet...
Any gathering will be fun and appreciated by those who attend...
Let's see what else we may get going...
PS:
There are going to be (2) local car shows around Charlotte (Concord) in the coming days/weeks...Maybe we could get a few to attend these and work our way towards a larger gathering...
I'll get the specifics and post in a new thread...
Thanks,
Sheila & James

Joe, you are welcome to join us 9/13 at Doumar's - it's our kickoff meeting of the Tidewater Chapter, and while it's kind of low-key, we've got several members who will be there. We welcome anyone in the area as well as anyone passing through the area! It's all fun, all good, great people and great Birds!
