OK,
Here is an update (finally!) We are working on a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn in Rocky Hill (some of you have stayed there before). When that info becomes available, I will post it here.
As for the weekend's activities:
For anyone coming in Friday night, we will plan to do a group dinner (location TBD by group size).
Saturday the 20th:
We will be leaving the hotel at 9:30 SHARP to head down to Essex for the CT River Steam Train and River Boat excursion (http://www.essexsteamtrain.com/steam.html). We will have reserved parking at the station. The trip consists of a train ride through the scenic countryside from Essex to Deep River Station where we disembark and take the river boat ride back to Essex. Lunch will be a "box lunch" served on the boat:
Sandwich (Choice of Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef)
Potato Chips and Cookie
Choice of Bottled Soda, Water, or Juice
Please post your lunch preference, as they need to be reserved ahead of time.
The combined ticket and lunch cost is $34.00 per person. This price reflects a group rate for 20+ people.
After returning to Essex, we will be visiting Essex Village (http://www.essexct.com/) and the CT River Museum (http://www.ctrivermuseum.org/). We will be doing a self guided tour of the museum, tickets are $6.00 per person.
Dinner that evening will be at Dakota's Restaurant in Rocky Hill (next to the hotel). Time to be posted later.
Sunday the 21st:
Leave the hotel for the car show at the CT Children's Place (http://www.ctchildrensplace.org/). This is the same venue we attended back in 2007. Exact times and info on show registration to follow. Dinner will depend on travel plans.
Here is the attendee list from post #1:
(Those marked in red have made hotel reservations)
Sue & Dino (Blue Heaven) Ham, Roast Beef
Wes (Bird03) Turkey
George (MATBird) Turkey
Roger & Terry (ROGERDMILLS) Turkey x 2

I heard from the show organizers this weekend that due to the large turnout of new Birds we will have at the show, they have created a class for 2002-2005 Thunderbirds only!! This means we will not be mixed in with the class for all newer cars as in the past.
I think that was thoughtful of them!

Any chance that same offer would hold for a nice full-bodied ale (or 2, 3, 4, or 5)?
Is there a link for the car show anywhere? (I'm blind at times). The only thing I could find was a Ferrari show that day in Hartford for the same organization... Thanks

Doug,
An ale (or 2,3,4) it can be!
As far as a link for the show, there really isn't one. This show is coordinated by the CT Children's Center, a group of local sponsors and car clubs.
The Ferrari show you found is also held annually on Father's Day, that one is put on by the Ferrari Club of N.A. and the CT Children's Medical Center. It is also an outstanding event. The owners bring their cars in parade form to the hospital in the late morning. Each picks up a child and "chauffers" them to Bushnell Park where the show takes place. The looks on the kids faces as they come into the park grounds are priceless! How many of us can say that they rode through the streets of Hartford in an Enzo Ferrari?
It's too bad that these two events fall on the same day, it would be nice to hit both.
If you decide to join us, see post #43 for hotel arrangements as we have a discounted rate. Reservations need to be made by 5/23.

This was a really difficult decision. In honor of the entire New England Chapter at first I was thinking turkey would be appropriate. Then I read some more of their posts and thought "that's a lot of bull" so obviously roast beef came to mind. Finally I thought of them acting up and obviously ham took precedence.
My final decision is ham since either Dino, who is leading this whole event is having it, or Sue is and he wouldn't want her to having anything less than the best.

Hey Chuck. What'ta you been smokin? Here's eleven from 2007. I think that 20 will just fit as Dino's driveway isn't twice as long as what is shown in the picture.

Friday night's dinner will be at Dakota's Steakhouse at 7:00 PM. The restaurant is next door to the hotel (literally within walking distance). This will make it easy for those who may arrive close to that time and want to check in first.
Saturday we will have dinner at Rossini's Restaurant in East Hampton, then head to the Buongiorno residence for dessert, group pictures and whatever else we can think of. http://www.rossiniseasthampton.com/

Doug, have you thought of the Merritt Parkway. As of last Friday night - 684-84-691-91 from the 684 - Saw Mill parkway exit there is no construction. I don’t know about 684 south of the Saw Mill though. Merritt parkway might be a better option though, more scenic as well as a more direct route. I don’t know about construction on the Merritt.
