Last I saw, Ford was giving dealers $2,000 (dealer cash) and that was it on 2002's. That might help them get to $6K off MSRP.

I wonder how many dealership that still have 2002's are the ones that were holding out for $5 -10K over MSRP??? Don't ask me how I feel about them--:censored:

Hal26,
Try Don Davis Ford in Arlington, TX - I think they may still have an 02 or 2. Ask for Bruce Jones if at all possible.

Try EBay. I check there often. Since you don't mind traveling, there are plenty of NEW and almost-new '02s for auction there, some with opening bids or Buy It Now prices in the low 30s, equating to 7-8k below MSRP. Talk to DLJAMES here at TBN, he made a great deal months ago through EBay, and maybe he would share his experience with you and what to look out for.

Good luck. Any effort resulting in acquiring one of these cars will be worth it, I assure you.

In the Northeast, some dealers are giving 6K off MSRP plus the Ford A plan, if qualified.

Try Ridgewood Ford in Ridgewood NJ and All American Ford in Hackensack, NJ.

Ridgewood has a new black/with hardtop and a white demo. Hackensack's inventory on-line shows two black and two red 2002's. Both dealers are quoting $29,995 or $9,500 off list, but that may be a come on. (Dealer loyalty, recent college grad, etc.)

Ridgewood quoted me a 29K price on the new 2002 listing at 39/40, but my price included the A plan.

You should be able to get the car for 34-35K easily.

I agree with PK...check ebay often. Over the past 3 months there have been at least 5 new '02 Tbirds that sold for less than $30k. The sellers were legit auto dealers. Private sellers tend to have a high reserve and don't sell too many on ebay. Unfortunately, unless I'm watching the ebay auction when it terminates, I don't always know if a Tbird sold or what the final price was.

I got about $5000 off MSRP my '03 here in the Bay Area, they had 1 '02 on the lot but sold it just as I got there. I took the '03. I think they were wanting to get rid of all they had so they can get in the 04's. Since they move alot of cars at this dealership I think they have an incentive to move them out. I got mine at Lithia Ford in Concord.

hal26,
Watertown Ford in Massachusettes has a new '02 black with partial red accent interior with "...save $9000.00!!!" on it's windshield. Might be worth a call. Check their inventory at www.watertownford.com. The car is listed there at MSRP.

$12,000 off in LA....
Per my other posts, one dealer is down to $12K off sticker. Most dealers here start at $10K off. It's easy to get an '02 well under $30K.

hal26, that's a good price. It would be even "gooder" with the h/t. IMO the h/t adds a lot of value and can give our Tbirds 2 distinctive looks. Since the '04's will arrive within the next 10 days, there will be '02's available with the h/t for less than $28k. I'd keep looking :newpapr: and asking questions,:pc: just like you have been. With a little more patience you'll find the car that you want at a terrific price.

hal26,

I would keep looking for one with a hardtop. You may even be able to find an '03 at a good price after the '04 hits.

This price on the 02 sounds very good. You could always look for a hard top on Ebay if you want one.:pbj:

Just spoke to one of my friends (inside the Company) and he confirmed that there is now $6k of incentives on the 2002 Thunderbirds. Put that on top of the discount the dealer is willing to give from MSRP and you can easily be under $30K for a 2002 model.

I suspect that the reports of $12K off, have some built in dealer margin from add-ons - but check it out - you won't know until you ask.
