I've got the new license plate frame ($46.88) and bracket ($20.77) add another $300 for the bumper work. It's scheduled to go in the shop the 28th and hopefully JWBIRD will be back to new. The shop recommended removal of the bumper to do the repair/paint to avoid over spray in the radiator and engine compartment, my service mgr at Ford concurred though it will cost an extra $100 in labor. Has anybody got any thoughts on this? BTW the body shop will paint the ugly black bracket to match the bumper. SORRY I meant to add this to my previous post. :cussing:

jawill,
If you are comfortable with your body shop's competency, I would have them remove the bumper cover to paint it. This is fairly common practice on today's cars. There is a body shop down the street from my house and hardly a day goes by that you don't see a rear or front bumper facia outside on a rack being prepped for paint. Overspray is very unsightly and will always remain to indicate work had been done on the car.

Jim:
I agree with Blue Heaven....keep the over spray off the car.
BTW, mine goes in on Monday for rear deck clean up (I took the top off) and clean up of ragtop as it had 6 water stains on it.
Finally, Blue Heaven and I have communicated recently about possibly getting together somewhere near Sturbridge in the spring. Maybe a Brunch or whatever. Any interest??

Matbird: I'm definitely interested Sturbridge is a place I always pass thru to visit my kids. Last time we went wifey commented that we'd never stopped there. Just let me know when. Jim W.

Joybird:
I believe you are about 90-100 miles to NY. Sturbridge is approximately another 180. So it should take you about 5+ hours if you do the speedlimit.
