Hello! I've been checking out your forum here periodically since purchasing my 2003 Thunderbird in Mountain Shadow Grey this past May at Ford Country here in Las Vegas. I had been reading and following the progression of the new Thunderbird since Ford displayed the Concept T-Bird a few years back. Well my wife and I were out at a classic car show this past April and had our restored 1969 VW Beetle on display. Of course many of the car dealers in the area had brought out some new cars too and that was really the first opportunity I had to see one of the new Thunderbirds up close as they had a gorgeous Desert Sky Blue 2003 model.

I first got interested in the Thunderbirds back in the 70's after seeing American Graffitti as a young teenager. A few years later, while still in high school, I had the opportunity to drive my bosses beautiful 1978 Thunderbird which was quite a thrill at that time. Unfortunately, I never bought a T-Bird until now. I looked at them seriously back in 1991 and 1996 but both times opted for Pontiac Firebirds (which was the right decision in 1991 but the wrong decision in 1996  ). Not this time around. Ford did good in my opinion by returning the T-Bird back to it's baby bird roots. So, I bought my T-Bird and have enjoyed it immensely so far. I'm not the kind of guy who typically buys $40,000+ automobiles so this one is pretty special. My wife and I drive our VW Eurovan and Mazda Miata daily so the T-Bird is our special car for weekend cruising and enjoyment. I hope to own it forever. :pc:

Whoa! A newbie newer than me!

God, it must be the ultimate to cruise down Las Vegas Boulevard in your new T-Bird, huh Greg? I plan to be down there in September to see the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Sugar Shane Mosley fight at the MGM Grand (huge boxing fan here). I'll be flying though, but one of these days, I will make the roadtrip and cruise the 'Strip!

Enjoy and welcome! :smokin:

Welcome, Greg. When I saw your "handle," I thought of the picture of my car with bugs splattered all over the grill.

Birds and bugs; welcome to the nest, a virtual gold mine of information on the t-birds. Best darn site you will find and some great people here that know most anything about the birds and some know cows too.

Welcome to the best (essentially the only) TBird forum on the web.

Do you drive with the top down during the summer in Vegas....I cannot imagine that.

I have a cousin who lives in Summerlin...just outside of Vegas. You can see the lights of the Strip at night from her back yard.

Best of luck with yur new 'Bird. Good wishes and enjoy this great forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

The name BirdsAndBugs come from the 2 cars that have become my pride and joys, my 2003 Thunderbird as well as my restored stock 1969 Beetle with 64,000 original miles. I've attached a photo of it so I hope it shows up.

As to the flood of last week, my wife and I faired just fine. For those of you familiar with the area, we live just north of Summerlin near Cheyenne and Fort Apache.

And yes, generally it is too hot to run around Las Vegas in the summer with the top down during the daytime. I got the hardtop on my Thunderbird right now. Actually, I like the look of the car better that way too. :pbj:

Very nice! BirdsAndBugs!
My cousin drove a '69 bug like that to college ( she was born in '66, so it was NOT new!) Her name was "Trudy"...the Bug, not my cousin!
Welcome to TBN!
Trout..scroll down the page until you see the little box on the left. Click on 'smilies' where it says 'Smilies are on'. Then pick one (or all, if you are Te42!) In the left hand column beside each smilie it tells you what to type. Enjoy!:pbj::roll::cheers:

trout, you'll find the smilies if you use a regular "post reply" and not the quick reply at the bottom of this thread.

Great looking bug...owned two of them, and during the gas crunch here in Phoenix, wish I still had one of 'em.
