View Full Version : Just Bought a Blue 2002
Bird V8

My wife and I have liked the new Birds from the beginning and were very excited when Ford announced the new retro bird would be built. We loved the 2002 blue but did not do anything but test drive one some time ago. The bug bit us again recently and we went around to all the local dealers in San Diego. 2003's are presently a few $100 over cost I am told at $ 37+. Saw a 2004 Mint in the same price range. Long story is we found a 2002 Blue/Blue with 5000 miles from a private party and bought it because that is our favorite color. Simple as that. Should have the car in a day or so. My wife has her 1956 TBird Green bird which I have restored twice. Once in the late 1970's and last year. I wonder if anyone will be restoring the 2002's in 50 years? Will it be possible to pull one out of the weeds and make it a new car again as we can do now with the early birds. Glad I found you all. Les

Congratulations on your T-Bird purchase! :pbj:
As to whether people will be restoring these cars in 40-50 years; probably. These new T-Birds are pretty special and like the original Thunderbirds or the Corvette, never really go out of style.

Hi Les,
Welcome to both you and your wife. I hope you have half as much fun with your new bird as I have had with mine. This is a great site with super people who are knowledgeable on just about anything pertaining to your car. Again, welcome.

Welcome Les!
Congratulations on your new T-Bird! You'll LOVE it!:pbj:
50 years from now the cars we're driving will be MUCH harder to restore than the 1950's cars, all the electronics, computers, sensors, will be a nightmare.
But I'm sure there will be an interest, and someone not even born yet, will lovingly restore some of these beautiful machines!

Thanks all, our car arrived last night. It once lived in northern California with it's first proud owner. I think his Corvette won out . We bought the car after a test drive and and after returning home planned on having it trucked home, about 600 miles. I decided to drive it back but at the last minute I had to work, but a friend had a vacation day so he flew north and drove it back for us. He took "photo's along the way and in the next few days we will have them developed. He just bought a Corvette but was very please with his 10 hour drive back to San Diego. I will post pictures of our birds sometime in the future and if the delivery pictures are of any excitement them too. Thanks for a warm welcome and a great useful web site. The oil discussion was timely as it is time along with a engine light that stays on. I can see a broken vacuum line and I am sure that is at least part of it. Later Les Bird V8 which is the new plate I just ordred for the car.
