Hmmm, there's really not much there to rattle. I'd go for the obviously overlooked. Check everywhere there is hard plastic and a pocket. That would be cupholders, door pockets, glovebox, ash tray, console, etc. I have a spare lug nut in the box that drove me nuts until I nailed it down. I've also been fooled by keys on a holder that banged against the dash only under specific conditions. Also keep in mind that you may not hear it coming from where it actually is - a door noise may seem to eminate from the dash. Try giving the dash and panels exploratory thumps - flat of the hand and listen for odd sounds. Think of it as a fun game of exploration - sit in the drive way and poke and whack until the rattle shows up.
Good luck and Happy Birding!

I also had a noise driving me nuts.It would come and go ,readjusted the seats ,checked the glovebox etc. What was it ,change in the cup holder bouncing everytime on a rough road or bump.Never sounded like it was from there always in the dash. Hope it helps you.

Not Bird, but Ranger - - - My local do-it-yourself car wash uses tokens instead of quarters. I keep change in the ash cup, so I put the left over tokens under the cup so I accidently didn't try to use them for legal tender and then forgot about them. When I started getting a rattle - I emptied the ash cup and everything else, even bought rubber lining for the hard plastic. Felt like a fool when I found the tokens. :moreek:

From the position of my passenget seat and its seatbelt, I had a noise and finally found that the belt buckle was tapping against the plastic on the door. Everytime I moved it to stop the noise it went back to position and made noise again. Finally, I buckled it when no ones with me.

I drove my wife's 2002 today and had a rattle that was definitely not any of the above. I could not tell where it came from but it was there at idle and while driving. I even popped out the center air vent because I thought it was coming from there.

Anything clipped on the sun visor such as garage door opener can rattle against the roof frame.

I took our Lexus to the dealer a couple of years ago to find out that was the problem. In my defense, it sounded like the rattle was coming from behind the dash.
