Thought I'd try to find out from everyone some information on the print edition of your owner's manuals while you still know where it is.

Mine is 3rd printing - March 2002

our car was built May 20, 2002

If your's is different than any previously posted, please post your info - it's printed on the back of your Owner's Guide.

You'll find your approx. build date in the lower right corner of your window sticker invoice if you don't know your car's exact build date (add about 10 days to that date). If you don't have that window sticker, then you can use the month/year that is on the door tag on your driver's side door.
or you can ask Quickdraw or MichaelM for your exact build date.
or check any service record receipts on the car from your dealership.

By posting your dates and print edition, we can get an idea when a new printing started appearing in the cars as they came off the assembley line. This may be important trivia info sometime down the road.

Funny you should bring this up. While at a Sonic Drive-In outing there were 3 of us 02 Bird owners there. Joel wanted to program his seat belt alarm differently and when we were reading the manuals the directions to do this were on different pages. We had 3 Birds there and 3 different owners manuals. Will check mine and post the printing date.

I had ordered mine and waited 16 months and it never came. Found this one with 3 miles on it at a dealer in Augusta ME. Then cancelled my order. That order is now built and due in this week to the dealer in MA so there's a triple Black available here.

Just found out today that there is a 4th printing of the owners manual, so any new owners, please let me know what the date is on your manual and when your car was built.

btw - the latest owner's manual is available on Ford's owner's website as a pdf file. This is the 4th version.

Dot, My wife just ran off with my car and a younger guy. When she finds out she made a mistake and brings the car back, I'll check the owners manual for you. It should be the 1st edition since the vin # is 1532.

232 pages, pages 231 & 232 are blank, index ends on page 230

It does have a warning message on page 20 and 28 about the CD's. A portion of it reads "Irregular shaped CDs, CDs with a scratch protection film attached, and CDs with homemade paper (adhesive) labels should not be inserted into the CD player."

That caught my attention because someone was talking in another thread this week about receiving a special mailing on the CD's.

Funny thing happened just now when I just went outside to get the manual to answer this thread, a 2004 VMG just pulled up to the office complex. She just sold her red 1965 TBird and got a new one. Gave her a Tbirdnest.com card. She said to look for "sweet pea" on these message boards for her new car (rather than scarlett for the old car). It's still parked outside! I can't take my eyes off of it! Hope KarylP got her VMG today! :pbj: :pink:

Some info not covered in the first edition was added to later editions but I don't have the different editions to make the comparisons with. I do know that page numbers are different as page numbers referenced by some weren't the same for others.

The 2004 owner's manual appears to be in it's 2nd printing so need more data from 2004 owners.
Look on the back of your manual to find

Sorry, Dot, the manual for my 04 (PCR) is still in its' original shrinkwrap packaging, and there it shall stay!
I made them leave it untouched at the dealer when I bought it.

Karyl, can you read thru the shrink wrap? It's printed on the back of the manual or are you saying that the case the manual comes in, is shrink wrapped?

Inside the plastic in order from back to front are: the black manual cover -has embroidered Blueoval Ford logo - , several 5x7 cards of some sort (can't see what--wait--I think one is the seat belt instruction card), then the '2004 model year Scheduled maintenance guide', then the manual, then the '2004 Quick Reference Guide', then the '2004 Interactive Owner Experience' audio cd.
Now, Dot, on the front of the packaged bundle is a (top half white and bottom half grey )sticker, which reads as follows (black printing):

That "someone" ordered for me, from the publisher, a new set (still in shrinkwrap!) Interestingly, order number is the same (4W6J19A321DA). NO interactive cd. Date on package front is Dec 19, 2003 (date on one that came with my car is Feb 09, 2004). Black "Ford" logo case is NOT packaged inside the shrinkwrap (like the original), but WAS sent with it.

This supposedly has more stuff in it that we haven't seen yet. Jerry says they said at the publisher that there was stuff in the package that "we would like".

Not getting much info from the 05 owners. I need the build date of your car when you post your info.

This is what I have so far:

Inca Gold built Feb 1 has first printing in theirs, like Elle's.

Inca Golds built in late April, 05 have 2nd printing in theirs. 2nd printing is dated December 2004

Now you can see where the build date helps for knowing which printing went with which build date.

Elle, When was your 05 built?

Dot, unfortunately I have misplaced the exact information, and the specific post about my bird has been removed from the other site. I have no idea why. I do remember that it was ordered sometime in June of '04, built sometime in August , and delivered to dealer on Sept. 4th of '04 (I remember that date, as it is our anniversary).

Thanks Elle, that's close enough since we can probably assume that the 1st print edition was there from the beginning of 05 production.

I'm just trying to narrow down the time frame between the 1st and 2nd print edition. Think a number of the cashmere owners could help with that one.
