I just received some sad news that La Verne has passed away about 30 minutes ago. She had her family around her and was in no pain. Our prayers go out to her family.

BOY, I AM GOING TO MISS HER. SHE BECAME A GREAT FRIEND AT THE FIRST MEETING, ON THE INTERSTATE ON THE WAY TO CHATTANOOGA. SHE WAS WONDERFUL HELP AT BIRDS AT BORLA AND LABORED OVER WHETHER OR NOT TO GET A BORLA SYSTEM PUT ON. MY ADVISE WAS NO BETTER TIME THAN NOW AND YOU WILL ENJOY IT ALL THE WAY HOME. I AM SO GLAD SHE DID THAT. SHE WAS SO MUCH FUN AS AN OVERNIGHT GUEST WITH LINDA AND HER BROTHER WESTLEY. SWEET DREAMS TO LA VERNE.

We are so sorry to learn of LaVerne's sudden passing. We met her at Birds at Borla and enjoyed her so much; we both had Borla systems installed while there. Her family is in our thoughts today.

Oh my goodness, TBN and the rest of the world lost a world class person today, but surely heaven is rejoicing in a brand new angel. LaVerne was a dear friend and we feel so fortunate to have met her and come to know her over the years. Her's is a life to be celebrated if ever their was one, because it is hard to imagine there is anyone that knew her that didn't like her.

She was so kind to meet up with us and Bill Green when we visited the Williamsburg area after Battleship Thunder a few years back. She treated us all to lunch at a neat little restaurant in the area and we had a great time visiting during the meal.

Thanks to LaVerne we also have been able to meet Mary Ellen and Westley and come to know them as well. Our prayers are with them and their entire family in this time of grief. May God bless you all with peace as only He can.

I haven't been to nearly as many TBN events as a lot of you, but I have been fortunate enough to spend a pretty significant amount of time with LaVerne at the events I have attended and have always enjoyed her company. She and Linda were actually the first TBNers Ben and I ever ate dinner with, at Choo-Choo Thunder a couple of years ago. I am really just in shock that all of this happened so quickly and happened to someone who was so full of life. I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that the last time I saw LaVerne at Birds at Borla was the last time I will ever see her. I will truly miss LaVerne, and Linda I am so sorry you have lost your travel buddy. I would like to attend the funeral services but have several plans this week that I can't get out of at this point, so we'll see.

I had the pleasure of meeting LaVerne for the first time at Thunder and Good Vibrations in Maggie Valley and she was so bubbly all the time. I got to hang out with her, Linda and her sister Mary Ellen at Battleship Thunder so it was fun reconnecting. I am so glad we learned of LaVerne's health issue(s) early enough for us to do something for her to show her how much the TBN group thought of her and cared for her. As has been said by many, she will be missed by all of us at TBN events, especially those of us in the Mid-Atlantic group. When we announced the plans for KT@G last year, she was one of, if not the first person, to offer her help with the event. She, along wih Linda, were always among the first to respond when we were planning a local event, even if she couldn't attend. She will be dearly missed by her family, along with her extended family-TBN. I hope that funeral and/or memorial service arrangements will be posted
so we can respond and attend.

I have just learned of La Verne's passing and I am just devastated. Can't even tell you the number of times that we have had the pleasure of her company. She was always ready and willing to just about anything!! All the fun times with her and Mary Ellen.

That silly picture of her with the rest of the "Hotties" is just one of the crazy times!! How about doing the Chicken Dance right after that picture!!!

I feel so helpless being this far away. I so wish I could be there for the services this week. Would love to meet her family as she was so proud of them. She loved them so very much.

This news brings tears to my eyes. This is why we have to live life to the fullest.

Linda, sending you lots of hugs and kisses. I know how close you two were. Please give her family a big hug from TBN and make sure they know how much La Verne meant to us.

Elle,

Please let the family know how much we feel for them and how much we loved LaVerne. Her family members came to several TBN events, so they are close to us as well. I'm still having such a hard time accepting her passing, just a few weeks ago we were exchanging emails regarding the cruise. This is just so sad.

On an uplifting note, I will always remember LaVerne best for her fantastic laugh and uplifting nature. She could get you to join in with her laughter even if you didn't have a clue as to what she was laughing about. She will be sorely missed here and at future events.

Her Mother, her brothers Gordon and Wes, her sister MaryEllen, daughter Shannon, son-in-law Mike and the rest of the family and friends were all kind, caring, warm and friendly and full of personality and hospitality - just like LaVerne. What a beautiful place LaVerne is resting now! Got home from the funeral a little after 6:00 this evening. Caravanned w/ Jim & Diana Heath, and LaVerne must have been looking down on us...it was a most beautiful drive up to Lancaster. The day was cloudless, and the Virginia countryside was stunning to drive through.

I took some pics today for those of you who wanted to attend and because of schedule or distance, could not. It was such a nice service, and her family is so gracious...and as full of life as LaVerne was. I have 14 shots I would like to share...I'll split them up in several posts...

LaVerne's obituary:

RANSONE, LaVerne Bennett, was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother and a Nana. She was a woman of integrity and she was not afraid to speak her mind. She was family, she was a friend and more importantly, she was someone you were glad you knew. LaVerne was born on June 19, 1950, becoming the first daughter to Dorothy and Linwood Gordon Bennett Sr. When she arrived, she already had a big brother, Linwood Gordon Bennett Jr. and later she became big sister to Westley Bennett and MaryEllen Bowman. One summer while working for a finance company, Ms. Bennett met Mr. Douglas Ransone and they really hit it off and decided to marry. A few years later, on a St. Patrick's Day, they had a daughter, Shannon Ransone Prince. LaVerne became an AVON representative because Shannon wanted to sell AVON. This led to LaVerne becoming a district manager and working for AVON for 17 years. Shannon met and married Mike Prince and they made LaVerne a Nana by bringing Lane and Nathan into the world, two wonderful grandsons, who brought tremendous joy into her life. LaVerne had an adventurous spirit. She tried and liked a variety of things. There was line dancing, scrapbooking and her last obsession, Thunderbirds. The beginning of that obsession was when LaVerne purchased and began caring for a 2005 Anniversary Limited Edition Thunderbird. She joined Virginia Local CTCI, a Thunderbird enthusiast group and she also joined The Thunderbirds Nest and enjoyed many trips and gatherings with them. LaVerne began her last adventure on December 5, 2011, surrounded by family and friends who sent her on her journey with light and love. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation in LaVerne's name to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org or by mail at American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123-1718. The family will receive visitors at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis road, on Wednesday, December 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Thursday December 8 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Whitechapel Episcopal, 5940 White Chapel Road, Lancaster Va. 22503. stmaryswhitechapel.org

Thank you all, too, for posting pictures of this precious lady. While Susie & I never got a chance to meet her, it is obvious she was well loved by family & friends alike.

Thanks for the whole thread and pictures and thoughts.
I didn't know La Verne but now I feel like I did.
I also have a lot of feelings for TBN and you wonderful people.

LaVerne will be missed by all of us. As Paul said we met up for lunch in Williamsburg and LaVerne rode with me in Detroit at the proving grounds.
My prayers go out to the family.
A special Lady has passed.

Just wanted everyone to know that I had told her sister Mary Ellen about the shirt we had made like this picture. I asked her if maybe she could find it and put it with her. Mary Ellen wrote me tonight and told me they did find it and it is with her. This was such a crazy day and we were having so much fun. Just a wonderful reminder of all the great times we share when we all get together. A great big thank you to Mary Ellen and her family.

Thanks for this great photo - it really says it all. Thanks too to Elle and Linda for being there in your wonderful supportive way and for the pictures of the day which let us all share in the celebration of LaVerne's friendship.

Priceless, Dot! Wish we'd had them for the photo table yesterday. That truly shows LaVerne's joie de vivre!

Thanks for jogging my memory on that, Bill. I saw that picture in my 55th Anniversary trip photos but couldn't tell for sure if that was LaVerne with the hat and glasses on. It's a good one!

I am struck by two things after viewing the posts in this thread that have little to do with Laverne the person but more with the benefits of participating in TBn events, the good time you can have and the fond memories others will have of you. Thanks, LaVerne, for that reminder.

Just a reminder to keep LaVerne's family in your prayers. In my experience, they are needed just as much now as then.
