This is not a TBN event, but sponsored by a local car club in Myrtle Beach, SC. It is called "Run to the Sun" and is for all makes and models of cars. All profits go to charity. Last year there were 2,500 - 3,000 cars at the show. It is all about showing and cruising.

Jim; Recently bought a 04 Merlot/Sand and am looking forward to many enjoyable rides. Glad to know about this chapter, and hope to participate in many activities. Used to belong to Jag Clubs, owned an XKE amd a Mark II. What's the Myrtle Beach event all about? I'm in Fort Mill, SC, and do quite a bit in Charlotte. tony.salazar10@yahoo.com

yea we need another Charleston or Charlotte gig .... I really liked our two day Charleston meet ... not a lot to do in Columbia ... I go to the car show in North Myrtle Beach during October when I am at the Condo in North Myrtle Beach. Maybe we could get a North Myrtle Beach T-Bird owner to set something up after the first week in October and I can provide room for 3 couples. Heck I overlook two swimming pools and hot tub as I look at the ocean ... :)

There is a lot to do in NMB and Myrtle Beach as well, but takes a local person to bring it all together. I don't get there until 1 Oct.
The place I rent is www.northmyrtlebeach.com/resort/Crescent-shores

I can take 3 couples at my place during and after the second week in October if something is set up for that period I think the October car show starts on the second weekend as I recall. Of course there are lots of things going on during Oct in NMB and MB. Shows, aquarium, good eating places, great shopping, ... great place to have fun
but I am 3 hours away in Columbia and can't arrange much from here.

I think the car show in NMB at Barefoot Landing is on the second weekend, but I think it would be more fun to do the Medeval show and dinner, the Dolly Parton show or some of those, the aquarium, we could rent one of those "party boats" ... there is so much to do and I don't think the Car show in itself needs to be a major part of the activity.... We had a great time in Charleston several years back. and the Tennessee trip to the Bristol Motor Speedway was most outstanding, but so were the other activities that were a part of that 4 day trip.... We just need to get together and have a good time.. :)

Plan to retire 2 June and should have time to try and put something together then if there is interest in coming back to the Charleston area. Several more members in the area that I can pull in, so if you want we can try to discuss possibilities and see what we can come up with. Let me know. Need something to celebrate retirement, and a T-Bird event sounds like just what the doctor ordered.

I'd be interested. I need to get down there to check on some relatives and the Montegu St and Sullivan's Island houses. Been awhile.

Will do. I'll talk to the wife and we'll start some early planning.

For all, any Month that you prefer? Last ones we did here were early October and the weather generally is very nice then. Can move forward, but remember it's hot and humid here July and August.

Summer is kind of packed - fall would be better weather-wise (don't forget hurricane season)!

I know a couple of places that make a great hurricane, but we'll stick to those kind if it's ok. October is always good, but some might want to do the show in MB, and I don't want to step on that. Went last year and it is fun.

Sounds like October is a go...start making plans! I sure miss Charleston, but more than that, I wish my dad could accompany me. That was his hometown, and he's the one that made me a car person!

OK, will talk with the boss and see if we can nail down a date, likely going to be early October. Then try to contact the other locals that have offered to help and we'll work on planning activities.

John, Stephen, be thinking about fun stuff to do. I'll send my phone number in a PM to both of you so you can contact.

Thanks again for the offer to help make this a fun event for all that want to attend.

Come on, we must have some Myrtle Beach and NMB car owners that want to show off their town .. :) Charleston would be good as well though... I saw where the Hunley is up where you can see it better now.. :) .. that was a good side trip. Ft Sumpter where the civil war started is kinda neat to. We don't want to Conflict with the Nashville trip though.

Nashville is in June, T@TWH is the end of July. Not sure what's going on in Aug or Sept, but Oct is perfect!

Wish I could get my cousin to open up the Sullivan's Island house for a tour. It was built in 1840, and my ancesters watched the first shots at Ft Sumter from the front porch (front of house faces the water). Cousin is elderly now, and it really wouldn't be prudent, though. I have lots of grand memories playing there as a child with my grandmother (Antoinette Masters) and my dad's 1st cousin (Mabel Wichmann). Both are long gone.
The house looks much better than this now...this pic was taken in 1983. and it has since been renovated, as well as the carriage house, which is not shown here.

I was wondering when you would plan something in Charleston again. When is the "Taste of Charleston"? That was a great event.
