Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. Purchased a 2004 Thunderbird yesterday, Platinum Silver with the Lt. Sand interior package-- lots of fun to drive. Have the black hard top, hope to take it off today if the weather cooperates.
This car joins my 1956 MGA Roadster in the garage, MGA is a lot of fun but decided I wanted some modern options and dependability. Look forward to finding my way around the board, will post pictures later.

Dave, welcome to the flock from another DC area local. There's been some discussion here that your color combination will likely be rare. Post some pics when you get the chance. I work in Ashburn, maybe we'll see you around.

Thanks, hopefully the discussion wasn't because folks think the colors are ugly! Just kidding. I work in Ashburn as well so may see you there.

Hi Dave, I'm down the road in Cascades. Work near Ashburn in the new red brick one story office park just south of Rt 7.
Did you buy at Koon's? I think I saw your car there. Very classy.

Dave,
Welcome aboard. Don't know if you bought at Koons or not. I saw the silver there as well. My son works at Koons in parts.
Glad to see more from our area here. Hoping we can get some local cruisin in.
Again welcome aboard. A very good site here. I think you'll like it.

Thanks to all. Bought mine at Jerry's in Leesburg, they had two identical to mine, one being driven by the owner of the dealer and the one I bought (5 miles on the odometer). Took the top off this morning and went for a drive, didn't see any scratches but will wait to put the hard top back on until the new tape arrives at the dealer.
Uploaded a few pictures to the gallery under davemartin88.

Welcome Dave,
i just checked out your pics in the gallery -- awesome! I'm sure that you are proud to add this one to your stable. When your hardtop gets back on, we would all like to see those photos as well.
I'm sure that you'll find some good info here for the care and feeding that your new baby deserves. :tbn:

Welcome, Dave! enjoy TBN, enjoy your car, and watch out for drivers using cell phones!:nono:
I just checked out the pics in your gallery, and I'm wondering if you already put a dash kit on, or do the 04's come with them?
If it came with the center stack kit, is this only on the lt. sand package interiors, or all of them?:puzzled:

Dave,
Welcome to the nest. Please post pics of your baby.
I went to the local dealer yesterday and saw a VMG T-Bird. I asked about the Platinum Silver, but there was not alot of info from them. I was able to coax them out of a brochure.
Congradulations on your new Thunderbird.

it is only on the lt sand package that you get the gold looking dash kit. however all the 04's have a new brushed strip that runs along the frint of the dash. it now has little black pinstripes in it. Honestly the little black stripes and the finished look of the homelink pannel sold me on an 04 over the 03's

I agree, Drew....but you know what they say: "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence..." I'm sure there will be something about the 2005 models that will make us drool even more!

Dave,
Your car is BEAUTIFUL! I saw the Platinum with black interior at my dealer's a couple of months ago and thought it was pretty. The sand package MAKES it! And a Black hardtop!? AWESOME!!!

Drew,
I hate to be nosy, but what job do you have at age 19 that is lucrative enough to allow you to afford a 40,000 dollar automobile? Just curious. I need to quit my job!

Thanks to all for the kind comments. I've been looking through the gallery photo's and didn't see a single bird I didn't like.
As others have said, the picture of the interior shows the lt. sand accent package as it comes from the factory, nothing else added on.
If anyone has a particular question or needs another picture, let me know and I'll be glad to get it posted.
Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Dave, I have a particular question:
Can I have your car???? please????? pretty please????
I'll take REAL good care of it, and everyone here can attest to the fact that I am very meticulous, especially with cars!

Smoovepl,
Where do you drive your car? This is a cruising piece of art! :poke: Try not to drive it into the ocean.

not very far, that is for sure,
Small disadvantage is the fact that I live on an Island. This is exacerbated in that all vehicles have a 3000-5000 dollar markup on top of MSRP for "Market adjustment value". I swear to God, a 2003 T-bird sells for 48,000 dollars here in Hawaii. I waited til it was available for A-plan price before I purchased mine.
The good thing though, is that I can drive with the top down every day of the year (except when it rains), the weather is mostly beautiful here year round.

Paul, Vegas seems to have a higher mark up on cars too, but not like HI. I actually found a dealer on E-bay then shipped it in from MD. There were just a few available here in June so started to look in other states. Found the best deal for me in MD so I went for it and saved about $4k. A little left over to accessorize! Got to say I'm lucky and have some long open and lonely roads out here about 300 miles before I drive into the ocean!
