No matter what you look at today, car, truck,
they all have a RPM gauge. Can see on
some high performance cars and trucks pulling
heavy loads. But on the typical car, even the
T-Bird, this seems like a useless item.

If had my choice would like a full set of
analog gauges telling me the operating
conditions of fluids and electrics.

With all the computer tech, you are not
going to over rev an engine today. I've
never even looked at the one on the vette.

For years this was not a feature, now its
staring at you whatever your in.

I agree. The only time I look at it is to see if the engine is running - mine runs so smoth, it's hard to tell at times.

Of the few faults I have with the car one of them is the instrument cluster. I too would like to have the full gauge package but would also like to keep my tach. One of the high end imports has one where the tach and speedo are together kind of like the face of a clock. That layout looks very nice to me.:fordsrule:

Ford could easily put a couple of analog gauges in the "curved" area below the heater controls - very similar to what they have done with the new Marauder.

The Marauder gauges are also similar in appearance to the T-birds - with the same "curved" panel in that location. It seems like a simple fit to me....

OK, I would love to have a ammeter and oil pressure guage in the car,
but the '55 - ? Bird did not have them and they did have a tach that
was mechanically driven in all '55 - '57's and on several other years.
As stated earlier, the computer controls nearly everything in the car,
so why a tach? Because the first generation T-Birds had one........
and no ammeter or oil pressure, just idiot lights....and the '02 has
a check engine light to perform those functions.
I like it just the way it is.......except I would like better
gradients on the speedometer, like a dot every 5mph or so. Oh well,
I'm used to the speedometer now, so I guess I'll just live with it.

Is anyone willing to jump on that Marauder gauge experiment?? It would probably look great! :nervous:

I'd love to try - It looks sharp and is informative at the same time - let me see what kind of information I can dig up....
