I ordered a new Thunderbird on Nov. 01, 2003 and after a long wait the dealer called Friday to say it has arrived at the dealership. The Ford dealer is about 130 miles from Quincy Ca. so I won’t be able to pick it up till Tuesday. I want to thank everyone at the Thunderbird Nest and the Porthole Authority for your help, advice and entertainment. I now have the Borla exhaust system, floor mats, top hoist, locking lug nuts, Invinca Shield, and car cover waiting for the Bird’s arrival. I also ordered the interior aluminum trim for the left and right sides. Price still 5.75 ea. My parts man said that even if they raise the price he still would give them to me for $5.75. Nice guy.
Proboxfan thanks form your advice on the hardtop when I pick the car up.
It’s good to have the King back. Hope to meet you sometime Tom.

Jay, nice to see you are getting your Bird but you really haven't had that long of a wait. A lot of us at the beginning had to wait for over 1 to 2 years before our Bird came in. Anyway enjoy it and post some pics when you get the chance.

Congrats, jay. You will love the car.

I waited over 2 years.....15 months if you just count the time from when I ordered the car......it is amazing how things have changed.

But it has all been more than worth it....thanks to the fun and friendship of thunderbirdnest.com

So join the fun!!!!

Welcome to the bird owners club. You will enjoy it and it's worth the wait. Are you going to Desert Thunder?

Hey, good to hear from you again!

Man, you are a patient man waiting as long as you did for that car to come in.

Especially considering there are so many dealers with cars just sitting on their lots, like around here.

I hope he gave you a great deal, because you can get a 2004 around here for around $36,000 without too much difficulty.

You might ask your dealer if he'll throw in a set of the new Ford protective strips if there aren't already some in your trunk when you pick it up.

I'm thinking that your car will come equipped with the new Ford strips since it's just now being delivered, but I'd check if I were you, and if they're not there, get the salesman to promise you a set!

Get ready for fun! I'll bet these are going to be two of the longest days in memory until you can sit behind the wheel of your new ride!

Congrats! :bestwish:

Ishepperd,
The Bird is Platinum Silver top and bottom with the standard black ink interior and 16 spoke micro machined wheels.
Gobird and Joelja,
I have a yellow 1957 thunderbird and really wanted the new bird when they first came out, so does that count?
Taflocks,
I ordered the Bird through Corning Ford in Corning Ca. If it were Sacramento we would stop buy to see you and wish you a happy B day.
Red Bird Dave,
My wife Diane and I are thinking about going to Desert Thunder. We may have to go to Anchorage Alaska about that time so it will be a last minute deal.
Proboxfan,
The dealer is a good friend and general manager so he took care of us.

Tom,
Corning is just south of Red Bluff on 5 and north of Chico. Loyalton is not that far from Quincy. Do you ever get over this way.

Jay, did you get your baby? If so, please post some pics of her. I am sure it was well worth the wait.

Are you planning on attending Desert Thunder in Las Vegas? A small road trip would be an ideal way to break her in and show her off.

Congradulations.

Happy for you Jay. The way you are doing it sounds fun...getting all your TBird goodies and projects lined up before it even arrived. Sort of like getting the nursery ready for a new baby. Most of us are doing it the other way around.

Have Fun Fun Fun.

My wife, Diane and I drove to Corning Ca. on Monday and spent the night. When we got up on Tuesday morning to go over to the Ford dealer it was poring down rain. I was really disappointed, but when I saw the thunderbird it put sunshine in my hart. Gary at Corning Ford was great and had us on our way about noon. We stop at In and Out Burger in Chico for a T-Bird lunch. Then in driving rain we headed home to Quincy Ca. We didn't see any snow and the rain stop about 25 miles from home. I spent today washing and detailing.
AS for Desert Thunder we are thinking about it, but won’t know if we can go till the last minute.
OH2 TBIRD Thanks for your advice on the top lift. I know that my wife would not be able to help. It’s hard to hold and walk to the back of the car.
Thanks for the welcome from JBest and Milky and I will post pictures.
