Tomorrow will mark the 5,000 miles point for me. It sure did go fast. I LOVE this car. I just hate to get the miles on it. Anything special that should be done at this point? Do I throw it a party or what?

I did that at 3000, but thanks. Anything else?

Perhaps a special waxing or a scenic ride through the country? :smokin: Seriously, you may want to consider tire rotation. This is usually not done until 7500, but I have always made it a practice to rotate performance tires a little more frequently.
I know what you mean about the miles. Tomorrow marks three months of blissful Thunderbird ownership for me, and I've already got 2400 miles on the car. I just can't stay away from it!
Happy "mileage anniversary" from one blue bird to another.:thumbsup:

Congratulations!!
I am about to hit 7,000 and all I can say is that each new mile is just as much fun as the first!!!!!

Check your owners manual pouch and there should be a maintanence guide in there. It gives the mileage intervals and what they recommend be done at each. The first interval is 5,000 miles, but I had the oil changed at 2,500 miles. Oil change and tire rotation are due at 5,000 miles. Happy motoring.

If I could do the Destin gig it would be there. I'll probably settle for a topless joyride to a casino (Soaring Eagle) or go and watch the salmon fishing on the Grand River. Maybe I'll tie some balloons on the car to mark the momentous milestone.

Retro, I've got 6200 on YLO BRD, and its going to kill me to put it away for the winter, every sunny day I take advantage of it. Your not that far from us, it would be nice to get together before the snow flys and compare cars and storys.

Come now...I think you just wanted to be the "Member of the Day" with the most posts. I've been working on that goal, but haven't reached it yet. Maybe I should get mad at the enter key too.
I'll let you know when I'm going to the casino...definately before the snow flies.

EEK! 18,000 miles, give me a few more years. Thought with those multiple posts, my post number would increase but, alas it stayed the same, I may never hit 100 to be a Thunerbird Nut. I did make "member of the day" once but, did realize it was because I talk so much! I've really been having system problems, everything is in slow motion and I have no patience.

should have said I didn't know it was because I talk so much! Couldn't believe I made "member of the day" again today! Is this a great site or what?

This is one great cruisin' machine - almost 3300 miles so far. Had it out last evening with top down - beautiful weather - great on the freeway and backroads.
ylo bird - I'm trying to cut back on my posts so everyone can get their chance at "member of the day"

Mileage 6450, Took it in today for its second oil change and had the tires rotated. While I was there, had the check the x-brace bolts, they were all still tight. This is the first time that I made sure to walk around the car and thoroughly check it out before driving out, I just kept thinking about the other member with all the damage when just going for maintenance.

I have 2,500 miles after 5 months. Will break 3,000 miles in Destin next week.
Not even one little problem.
Oil changed and X-braces tightended at 1,900 miles.....waxed the car last week in preparation for Destin.
The car is a dream....driving in it or just looking at it.

...when I saw this topic I thought it might be about miles per gallon.<g>
My other car is a Honda Insight I've owned for two years -- license plate 67 MPG -- and I've already put gas in the T-Bird more times in a month and a half than I have in the Insight. But it's all worth it.
Having said that, a good friend recently drew the line between the two. Her comment about the T-bird was "nothing on the road looks like that." Then she thought about it and added, "of, course, that's true for the Insight also."
