It's getting really hard to keep thinking Spring when it keeps SNOWING!!! We've had 4 or 5 inches of it the past two days!

Hang in there. Spring has come to California ... over a week of record highs. Should be in low 80s today. Hard tops are off and rag tops are down all over Silicon Valley.

Well, 6inches of snow last night and light snow falling here in Milford.
The bird sits wrapped, unregistered in its nest waiting for the snow
to melt. Hoping for a good, warm April to get it out on the road. I bought
my bird in January and it kills me to walk by it every morning. Bring on
spring, and cheers to those in the south that can drive year round.
BTW..Any info on the April 18th gathering, I think in Fitchburg, would be
appreciated.

Steve,
Fitchburg for April 18th is still on and hopefully we can get a good turnout of Birds and TBNers. Beyond Fitchburg, it would be nice to plan a weekend gathering somewhere in July or August. Maybe rent a lobster pound in Maine and have an old fashion clam bake and of course lobsters and all that kind of stuff. And spend a couple days at one of the seashore resorts right on the water.
Anyway, it will be nice to be able to take out the bird more often, hopefully in April.

Not to sure on this, but, my calendar says SATURDAY 4/17/04, Not Sunday, at Fitchburgh Airport. MATBird is the Co-ordinator of the show, maybe he can clarify.

Yes, we are still on for 4-18. I didn't want to post too soon but I guess it's time to start a thread for this car show. I'll do it this afternoon.

Id like to go to the gathering in Fitchburg and hopefully we will all hear more since we are a month away. AHHH Maine. I make my yearly pilgrimage in Aug to Acadia/Bar Harbor with the family. I drive my F350 Crew Cab pulling a 32ft travel trailer. Haven't figured out a way to tag the bird along.
A meeting in Kennebunkport would be nice, and is not too far up the coast and is a wonderful area. Hey, Barbra Bush approves!
Can smell the lobster and clams now and the beer at Kennebunkport Brewing Co.

I'm in, I'm in, I'm in! As long as I have my significant other, my T-bird and lots of seafood life doesn't get better than that no matter where we are.

Bruce, Dave etal in New England:
There will be a "Centennial Celebration, 1904-2004" at the base of Mount Washington in NH in July.
If anyone is interested, my Fitchburg Airport co-chair is running a car show there and I can get more info, if you want, and start a post for that event. This celebrates the 100 year old auto road. Hard to believe that 100 years ago they had road races up Mt. Washington.

Sounds like a great venue - hope its not 7/18 - that's the Mustang Club show in CT for those of us who have a Pony too.

Don't know if you folks go back this far, but in the 50's, rt 302 was a two lane winding road from rt 16 through North Conway. We used to stay at cabins on 302 on our vacation in Glen ($1.50 per night; no joke). Mom, dad, and I went there just about every summer.
The small Echo Lake in North Conway was almost empty of people, even in the summer. The town was just a main street with hardly anything on it.
Coming from North Jersey into that area of the country was like going to heaven.
I hope to get back there next month. I have a project to oversee in Burlington, Vt, so, weather permitting, I'll drive up with the 03 Bird and head over to the White Mountain area.
Hope to take the Kancamangus highway from Conway to Franconia Notch. Anybody know when the highway opens up for the summer (assuming that it does close for the winter)?

Try to get down the main drag onto the water and have dinner at the Ice House Restaurant. It's been a favorite of mine whenever we get up there.
For you others, I'll post a thread on that Mt Washington event.

Jerry,
I believe they no longer close the Kancamangus in the winter. If there is a servere storm that cannot be dealt with then they close the gates but now a days that doesn't happen often.
It a great road to let loose with the T-bird. Do an early morning drive and there will be almost no traffic.

MATbird: main drag through North Conway, or further south?
I hope to leave Burlington at the crack of dawn on a Saturday and head straight for the White Mountains.
Will probably make a few stops along the places I knew as a kid. (Anybody from that area remember a place called "Dianah's Bath", about 1/2 mile from little Echo Lake/Cathedral Ledge in North Conway?)
The cabins where we used to stay are gone, but the renting office (a larger cabin) was still there about five years ago, on the right hand side, going west on 302 about a mile past the 16 junction. There's a house still there that was for sale in the 50's for $4,000.
Mom and dad wanted to buy it and move there, but dad was worried about where to find work. (He was in the steelworker's union.)
To give you an idea how long ago that was, one of the hit songs of the day was "Sh-boom" by the Crewcuts.
Dad had a 1948 Buick convertible, three speed on the column, straight 8, red. He spent more for gas than we did for food.
About five year's ago, I spread dad's ashes on one of the NH peaks. This time, I'm bringing mom's.
I think they would have liked that.

Jerrym3: Sorry I don't know the name of the road but, when I get off the exit from the highway, going North, I go left and continue all the way down to the waterfront. About 1-1 1/2 miles.
Have a safe trip.

For all that are interested, Look up separate post for "Centennial Celebration Mount Washington" for details.
I tried to get the post under upcoming events but ended up under Desert Thunder. Go figure!

Man, what a crazy day this has been. All day today it was sunny and beautiful. It was perfect for top down driving.....then the wind picked up....from the north. Now it's 45 and dropping. The high tomorrow is supposed to only be 40, and the low tomorrow night is supposed to dip into the mid teens. Gotta love midwest weather! I saw where it was 99 in Phoenix today......I don't like weather in the teens, but 99 is awfully hot. Is there anywhere where it's 70 all the time, no humidity, no wind, no rain, no snow.....somewhere where the top can be down all the time???

Yep.. It's starting to get warm out here.. early too! We should be around low-mid 80's for this time of year. We just drove up to Chandler from Casa Grande today with the top down. Nice day for it, but it did get a bit hot late in the afternoon.
Summer is coming, and our temps will break 3 digits soon and stay there until fall. Typically 103-115 over the summer months. Ok ok.. it does get down to lows of 94-96 overnight sometimes.
Perfect weather year round? Geeze.. Probably San Diego would get my vote. Unfortunately, everyone else already voted too, and the place is full!
Kind regards, Pete

Ray, try Hawaii, but hope you aren't claustrophobic. For a long cruise you only get to drive in circles.
