HI!, :wavey:
I've known many of the people on this board for well over a year now, some I met on email groups before ever joining a board.

My husband, George aka 0bird2 and I waited 15 months 3 days after placing our order on our blue with white top premium and I spent hours watching the boards daily as we read how others waited for their 'birds to be delivered. It was a long process, frustrating for many particularly those summer months last year. But all have said the wait was worth it!

As you will find on other forums here, we have several collectible cars, including 2 89 Chrysler TC's by Maserati - another 2 seat cruisin' convertible with a removable porthole roof, a 57 willow green Thunderbird and an 89 Chrysler LeBaron convertible (something has to be a daily driver). George drives a 93 Ranger Splash and we have 2 other cars stored out of state - a 57 Station wagon and a 56 Continental Mark II

Duane here - "Red" this time. I am a retired Ford Motor Company employee (32 years in Sales and Marketing). We have a red Deluxe with Hard Top. Our son and his wife have a black Premium. We waited 14 months for ours, they waited 24 hours for theirs (someone backed out).
I can't provide commitments for Ford but I can share some insights that may make your ownership experience more pleasurable or help you avoid some hassels.
We are in Atlanta (home of the biggest and best 2002 Thunderbird "Family" in the nation).

Tim Bryan - I am an Architect, specializing in residential design. If you are ever in need of a custom home plan, I'm the one that can help you make your dream house come true! I've known that this is what I wanted to do since I was about 7 years old. I have designed numerous homes that have appeared in "Better Homes and Gardens", "Southern Living", "Atlenta Homes and Lifestyles" and several other magazines.

My 2002 Thunderbird came my way in December, 2001. It was ordered on the internet, using an automobile purchasing company on the web. I placed my order in July, 2001. Only an hour after I placed my order, a Ford dealership had an exact match and the deal was done. It then took until December to actually get the new Thunderbird. It was a long wait... but it was worth it! It's a joy to own and drive. It's my BEST CAR ever!

:pbj: I made it to the new site. If my T-Bird had as many miles on it as I do traveling from one site, to another, and then another, etc, etc it would probably be out of warranty by now.

huh! I am a little bird restorer, have several and a red/red premium 02 which I really like. Have had it since 1-04-02 ordered
it in 1999 and waited like most of you but it is a delight.

I got my blue Bird on April 29....3 years after seeing the picture of the yellow concept car in "Motor Trend".

I ordered the car at MSRP in Pennsylvania and had it drop shipped to Peachtree Ford in Atlanta....a terrific dealer.

I am retired from IBM and am into travel, golf, the stock market, baseball (goooo Braves), cars, and the wonderful Thunderbird group here in Atlanta.

Let's enjoy this new forum.

I was one of the lucky ones .. I've had my Black Bird since October and love every one of the 12,000 miles I've put on it so far. I work at a university in Georgia as a techie in the TV studio/radio stations.

Started looking last month in earnest for an MSRP car in yellow. One extreme or the other (plain jane deluxe or full color premium) dealt with two local less knowledgable salesmen using the bait and switch adding $2,000 over sticker. had the good fortune to link up with Chris Lebus and the Ford West dealership for great opportunity. Should arrive at my doorstep this weekend. $2,000 under sticker with additonal incentives. Steve

Just registered for the new site. I too hope this ends the saga. I waited 14 months for my Yellow bird and happened to find what I wanted at a local dealership. I notified the ordering dealer and took delivery of the bird 2 days after it was off the transport. I'm glad I found the Yellow because I had changed my mind on the Red. I have a red Cobra, 67 Mustang and Taurus. Got me to change. Hope for many years of use and chance to talk to others with this unique automobile.

I am retired and enjoying the ownership of the 2002 T-Bird. It is indeed a joy to drive. Had several fun cars before but none match the new bird.

Placed a request (April 2002) through the internet. The next day was called by Kearny Mesa Ford. They had just what I wanted a White on White, Premium with Black Accent Interior. Have been on cloud 9 since. What a great/fun car.

Hi - new to the forum - had our bird since May 15 - was driving by the dealer with no thought of buying a car - the black bird was sitting there calling to us - we stopped - purchased on the spot and have been on cloud nine since.

In my former life I was known as gmadams.

I have followed the group back on the first BON site to now. I first ordered my car in Jan. 2001 at a meer $10,000 over MSRP. Thanks to Dot, who had just placed their order at Don Davis Ford in Arlington, Tx, for telling me that the dealership still had some orders left to fill. After placing my order in March 2001 with Bruce Jones, I finally got my car on July 3, 2002 and drove it back to NC and in my garage for the 4th of July.

This is a good bunch of TBird people here and I have gained a lot of very good advice about the car and the care for it that I want to give it. I have also made new friends and plan on meeting them in person whenever possible.

Hi ,On BON and the other boards I was FDCAPTAIN and fdnmbird.
My NM Bird is my second TBird. I have a '56 which has been in my family for over 40 years.
Have been very busy since my last posts in April.
I added a Sportframe hitch to the NM Bird for the Route 66 Tour. And someday maybe a trailer for the needed extra
luggage, and a bike carrier to get rid of my "spare tire"!
Still work as a Fire Captain in Colorado and have been visiting the other boards but no posts, till this one.
Recognize many familiar people and wish you all a fun and safe Summer.

Glad I found everyone again.
I love my blue bird (Betty-blue(p). I ordered mine and waited almost 17 months. Born and raised in GR Michigan. Getting the first oil change tomorrow. I've never been a car fanatic until now. Wanted to buy a '55 when I was sixteen for $600 and my dad said, "no way." Well, now at 45 my husband said, "hell yes!" I ordered it asap without a msrp, so you can understand how bad I wanted it.
I'm having the best time and enjoy it immensely!

Like many of you, I've followed the discussion sites beginning with the BON. Hope this one "takes".
I got my Red Premium (VIN4286) last November and have enjoyed every minute. I bought it from a dealer who was also a friend in a small western Kansas town. He knew I probably wanted it because I'm an incurable Ford nut. I have had a '55 Black Bird for 20+ years, a '65 Mustang fastback and a 427 Cobra (ERA replica) that sees quite a lot of track time.
The '02 has been flawless so far and has met my expectations. It attracts almost as much attention as the Cobra. Except you can't hear it coming!

What a great group!

I have had my new '02 bird since May - Could't be happier - T-bird Blue w/ white top - A great car! Also have '63 Ford Galaxie (Turq), and '67 Mercury Cougar (Green). So Fords are a kinda fixture at home!

I still can't believe after 3 mo. that the bird catches as much attention as it does - Everyone must (at least once) park their bird on a downtown street and quietly watch all the attention this great car gets - It is a real sight!

I too have followed from the old group. I could not find a Tbird in New Jersey at a reasonable price, so I bought my beautiful premium Blue/black accent in Wyoming in January and had it shipped to C&C Ford, Cliffside Park NJ in the middle of January. I love my car. I'll see some of you in Destin.

Another convert from the old site. I have been lurking from time to time but have been too busy to post. Unfortunately,
we had a 9 inch rain storm at the end of June that flooded our basement, so when I haven't been doing clean-up work,
I like to just jump in the bluebird and cruise.

This site is great and it's good to hear comments from many of the old gang whose advice and information has been of
great importance to me in the past.

Hello All

Some of you know me from "old" board(s). Although I no longer work at the Wixom plant- I kept the name as that is how my friends identify me.

Got some exciting news- the plant that I work at now is definately going to build the "new" Mustang. I only hope that I have as much enjoyment with that car as I did working on all those beautiful birds and corresponding with their future owners.

For those of you who do know me, I want to say thank you for helping me through some pretty tough times. Auto work is a rather boring and thankless job. Having friends like you gave my work meaning and helped me to put pride in my work.

Hope all is safe and well :)

Hi all,
I've been floating around from site to site beginning with BON.....seems like everyone else.......Anyway....I've been waiting, none too patiently, for my blue bird since 5/01. It appears to have been hatched and should be flying home the week of 8/12......finally........

I've contacted a local person doing the x-pel for the front end, when the car arrives....he, BTW, has a white bird in his nest since last August. Anyone here have the x-pel cover on the front end of their bird??? I'm wondering about how it looks and how you handle the need to wax the rest of the car.

Also, I'm trying to find information on the t-bird emblems for the porthole windows and the soft boot for the convertible. Any help will be appreciated!!

Hi everyone!

I bought my car after seeing one at a July 4th party. I had to have one. My husband said go ahead and I ran to the nearest ford dealer. Fortunaltely, there was a blue premium with blue accent which was just what I wanted. I never thought I would feel great about paying STICKER price, but after 10 hours it was mine at STICKER. HA HA. Before I bought a t-bird, I was a registered nurse and enjoyed astronomy and decorating. Now, I cannot get enough information or read enough on the history of the bird. Did I mention it never leaves the garage??? I realize I am exhibiting obsessive behaviour and if it continues I promise to take medication. haha. Anyway, I understand the bug because I have certainly been bitten by it. I hope to see you in Destin...I am going to tow mine...but it still isn't broken in, right?

My husband's name is Jerry and he drives a 4x4 Tahoe which I need a ladder to get in the truck...oh, and my other hobey is going 4 wheelen' and jet skiing with my husband.

We live in Atascocita Texas just northeast of Houston.

Again, nice to meet everyone! cindy

Cindy, I just wanted to let you know that it's possible to combine your old hobby (astronomy) with your new one (t-birds). I like to drive to dark places with my Meade ETX Maksutov because it fits nicely in the trunk and the 12V adapter plugs right into the console. I'm looking for a way to mount the scope on the rear shelf so I can observe while reclining in the comfort of nudo leather. :music:

Hello, I just wandered onto this forum. I'm one of those late 90's T-Bird owners. Hope you guys don't hate me. I do desire to get a newer bird someday preferably a 2005 50th anniversary. I am a lover of all Thunderbirds though the Super Coupe is my personal favorite. I've owned several T-Birds including a 79 Landau, 85 30th anniversary, and countless MN-12 birds. My dream is to one day have a 57 f-code and a 80 25th anniversary. Anyways I'd thought I'd introduce my self and will lurk around here from time to time.

Hi old friends and new. I probably won't be as active as I was for a while (much too busy enjoying the car), but it's nice to see everybody here. This is a nicely-built site.

By the way, small world story: I drove my mom over to Zillah in Eastern Washington a couple weeks ago for a friend's 50th anniversary celebration - since my mom doesn't drive the freeway. The husband was a car guy - restoring a 35' Hudson among other things - and word got out at this party that I had a new T-Bird. Before long, I found myself talking to Hobobob's son and daughter-in-law - also T-Bird owners. They live close-by, and are friends of the family. Very nice people - but what would you expect?

Hi Everyone,

I finally found you, thanks to a Yahoo! forum for the southern California club.

My husband and I bought #21319 in August at MSRP in Palm Springs. We had our choice of 2 blue ones or a black one or a dealer-painted (!) pink one. I'm so glad we didn't have to wait months and months....

We love the blue. My husband being the crazy guy he is, just told me we were going out for a drive, and he drove me straight to the Ford dealer. It was love at first drive.

WOW! Is this car fun! We drive it for ice cream in the evening, and someone ALWAYS wants to admire it in the parking lot.

We're looking forward to the cooler winter desert weather so we can drive it all day with the top down. We have the hard top, too, but really, I like it best top-down.

So, it's great to have found this great web world for the retro-birds. We're looking forward to going to events.
