Anyone else not satisfied with the sound system? If you are what did you do about it? Next to my GMC Envoy its sound cheap & tinny. My dealer says I'm the only complaint he's had. I've tried the different setting - Jazz, hall etc..:puzzled:

I don't listen to the radio that much. I have CDs in there, and the stereo ROCKS. I had no idea what power was in there until I was reading the Thunderbird book the dealer gave me...200 watts with an 80 watt woofer. It doesn't sound cheap and tinny when you play CDs...I am completely satified with the way it sounds.

blackbird, of all the great things about this car the radio is not the best. I have heard much better on alot of Fords that I have owned. I thought I was just being too picky, thinking it wasn't as upgraded as I thought it should sound.

I agree with Joy, but if you take a little time and set the eq you can get it so sound pretty good. It seems the louder you play it the better it gets. BTW, I believe there are two woffers in the rear. Actually, that is part of the problem. Sometimes the base overpowers the rest of the sound that's emitted from the front. All sound, other than the extreme bass from the woffers comes from the front and the doors, there's nothing to the rear to balance it out. Play with the balance and the base and treble and you can get a very good sound.:smokin:

Thanks guys,
I tried the setting you reccommended & the results are a lot better. Not quite Bose but certainly very good.

David;

How 'bout doin' a mini tech session on the radio on the Gainesville outing?:puzzled:

Sounds good to me...if we have time.

I am now using the DSP "Top Down" setting all the time, even with the top up. I have also tuned the fader control so that more sound is coming from the front. It seems to make a better sound to my ears using that setting arrangement.:rolleyes:

I absolutely find the DSP "echo" effects that come from the Jazz, Stadium, etc. settings a total waste.

I'll be glad to do a tech session if there's time, but, the settings are a personal thing. Everyone hears things differently and the type of music one listens to also makes a difference. I sometimes use the Jazz setting but find the rest of them useless except the "news". When listening to books on tape, the lack of base in that setting makes it easier to hear dialogue.

Simply playing with the settings is all ttat's needed to find one that's pelasing you your ears.:ugone2far:

I think this is one FINE system in the Tbird.
I usually have the fader set all the way to
the front, DSP set to Driver's seat.

Funny, people standing on the curbs always
compliment the sound of the music...:))
