From a Ford announcment...

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 4, 2002 (FCN) -- There’s a lot of excitement
brewing in Las Vegas, Nev. The 2002 Specialty Equipment Market Association
(SEMA) annual convention is set to start tomorrow with a record setting 1,500+
exhibitors.

And the company is ready to show off some of its most unique and exciting
vehicles.

"We will have everything on display from a street tuner Jaguar X-TYPE to
modified Ford Thunderbirds to a wild F-350 with snow track treads in place of
wheels,"

We'll have to keep an eye on that one.

Apparently, it's the T-bird Custom that's been seen at previous shows, here's a picture from the show.
Also found this video while looking for show info.

I saw this car at the New York International Car show back in April. According to an article in the July 2001 issue of Motor Trend magazine, Jay Mays said the car was built for Jack Nasser, then President and CEO. They called it Gunmetal Gray and saddle.

Looks like the car is sporting wire wheels?
Or is that just my imagination?

THis isn't the car at SEMA this year. It's the show car from last year and the wheels and halibrand. They are no longer being made and frankly, i can see why .. they really didn't do the car justice.

This year's SEMA T-Bird is a hopped up car. I'm sure some pictures will show up very soon.

Chiming in on the color of the car: The picture sure doesn't look like the 'gunmetal grey" we have seen on the concept car pictures. Is it that color, or do you think it was repainted to the color shown above (which looks almost like a dusky rose beige to me.)

No, I don't think this is the new gun metal grey that is coming out next year. It was especially painted for this big wig.

this sounds like the "thunderbird blue" controversy. It's a "mica" or metallic like paint - it changes color depending on the lighting conditions (and camera, etc...)

The "gun metal grey" from the custom car was officially called "dark shadow grey" and my color chart for the 03s shows that is just another color name for the "mountain shadow grey" which is the grey for the 03 'bird.

Ok .. Here is the Chip Foose Thunderbird (http://autoweek.com/specials/2002_sema/ ) that's being shown at the SEMA show. It's got a cut down windshield, special "fawn" paint and several other cosmetic changes including new front and rear facias, special seats, billet grill plus some serious engine enhancements. Scroll down to the picture and click on it for several different views. :pbj:

On the Chip Foose bird, I'm all for the performance boosts:thumbsup:, but I sure don't like the effect of the style mods. The mods in my view take a sleek car and make it look short and squat. Sort of a Karman Ghia look. The gills next to the hood scoop don't do much for me, either.

Are there specs posted someplace for the car? I see that several of the others have additional info.

That '38 Lincoln Zephyr looks like a period hover-car of the future with the wheel skirts.

Dot, is the bond car based on any color chart from the past. Didn't you say is was more like Fiesta Red? Hard to put downpayment down on an unseen car!
