What would you like to see Ford build for special editions?
colors?
"special name"?
engine?
So far we've had the Neiman Marcus and the James Bond specials. What's next?:puzzled:

Definately a supercharged version. I was talking to a rep from Jaguar and Ford at this weekend's new car show in Hartford about the rumor of the T-Bird getting a version of his XKR engine... he just smiled!!
The mesh grill would be interesting.

I would like to see metallic gold and metallic silver for the 50th anniversary year in 2005 model year. I don't understand why they haven't come out with a silver bird, and a gold bird would be symbolic of the 50th anniversary.
I'm pretty sure the gold would look good based on the '02 inspiration yellow look. Silver would also look good...sometimes the whisper white looks almost silver in certain light, and it's a nice look.:smokin:

The way I read Dot's post I think she was looking for theme's rather than options ie: Neiman Marcus, & 007 car. I can think of two. One an American Graffiti edition bringing back the bird from the movie, & two some sort of Beach Boys Edition (Fun, Fun, Fun - Endless Summer, etc :music:) :fordsrule::fordsrule:

Think you've all come up with some good ideas ( and a  one) so far. I am looking for "themes" and special options. Keep them coming. I know there are more out there.

I would love a "Golden Anniversary" Gold Thunderbird just so long as it's not the same color gold as Chyrsler is using on the PT Cruiser. That color hurts my eyes and stomach.
How about an Austin Powers Bird with a Union Jack paint job?:puzzled:
Or a strech limo Bird that's about a half a city block long? On second thought I hope they never do on of those.

It seems like the Gold 50th anniversary is getting some votes. I agree, but add a 5.0 engine, 5-6 speed and most of all eliminate the rear deck scratches with a Retractable Top. I believe this can be done by coming closer to the front (shelf area) and possibly extending the rear. My thoughts, for what it's worth.

Let's hope it is not the same gold used on the 15 Anniversary Birds - That was most god awful metallic brown/gold color ever produced by Ford!
I agree about the 50th Anniv. edition - but I would rather see Thunderbird Bronze, ala the '57s....

Personally I would love to see Ford look
back at some of the great interior color
(i.e. decor) combinations that they offered in the past.
For example, the dash, carpet, seat belts, all color coordinated being the same color
as the car as appropriate on some colors. This especially looks great with a two-toned leather seat combination as offered in the full/partial accent birds. I can
"picture" a Tbird blue exterior, Tbird blue dash,
carpet, seatbelts, with Tbird blue/white leather
seats, door trim Tbird blue/white. Stainless steel trim accenting the exterior.
How about a Torch Red exterior, white leather
seats, red dash, Torch red carpet and
seat belts. Of course bright aluminum
through out.
Oh yeah, let's dont forget the different color
combinations for the softtop! White?? I do
think so! And while we are on the subject,
how about a color coordinated boot cover.
The Tbird has always been about color, style,
and appeal. What better way to bestow
the Anniversay Tbird than a look back at the
great interior combinations of the past. Any
theme will work.
Theme? "Beach Boys Special" with a continuous play CD as std. equipment playing
Fun Fun Fun Till Daddy Takes The Tbird Away!
Just my thoughts...:pbj:

winterm ,these sound like all good ideas but I also think we should have a choice of soft top other the black or white. A color to match or contrast with the body color of the car. I think the 02 blue would have looked a lot better with a dark blue soft top.:pbj:

I agree totally GoBird.
Perhaps I didn't
make myself clear in the previous post but
I would prefer to see several softtop color
combinations.
Since we both have "Blue's" I too would
have loved to get a matching "blue"
softop on our bird. Oh well, guess you can't
have you cake and eat it too!

Winterm...
GREAT ideas - especially the color coordinated interiors - I bet the bird would look great in white with a red hardtop and red/white interior (Red replacing the dark charcoal gray).... personally I am waiting for the day the black convertible top wears out - I have a friend that has a custom top on his '57 Ford Fairlane - it is white vinyl with turq. edge piping - how sharp would that be on the blue T-bird!
I like the beach boy special - that was the only CD I played for the first week I had the car!!!!

Hey Fordman7 I think that white/turquoise
top would look great!
It's nice to see others remember the color
combinations and "choices" for interiors that
were offered in the past. Everything wasn't
just "black" or "charcoal". It made your
car buying experience more fun because you
were building it "just the way you wanted it".
Have a Happy & Safe Thanksgiving everyone!

The Chrysler Sebring convertible has a color combination that's a light silver-blue body with a dark blue convertible top. It's a very nice looking combination...but,:fordsrule:

Back on topic..............I think that Ford could do a special
Frank Sinatra Edition with a 'killer' sound system.
Elvis Presley Edition in Dusk Rose with a 'killer' sound system.
Marilyn Monroe Edition in Whisper White and all white interior.
There's lots of Special Editions they could do.

Michael Jackson with a "Thriller" sound system, special "Dangler" edition.

I think calling this 50th anniversary "The 55" would be pretty cool. Now a theme would need alittle more thought. Though, I do like the American Graffiti and the Copper Color

I'd like the front end to look a little boxier where the headlights are. Maybe some square "pop-up" lights?

I agree with the manual shift. It's the only major change I would have made to the 02. But also think about the 50th anniversary car. The body style will be 5 years old by then. Do you think Ford will change the exterior a little or a lot or not at all? I would love to see the return of fins.:smokin:

I was just thinking about frosting on the candy. red top?? - think they'd do it in "Coral" - much closer to her hair color.
