With the 03's on the line, I suppose the dealers that have 02's on the lot will be ready to unload them.

According to Edmund's (http://www.edmunds.com/), my car is worth $25,444 as a trade in, $27,128 as a private party sale, and dealer retail $29,934.

Does this meet, beat or come up short of your expectations?

There's a very reliable rumor that Ford has opened the A and Z plans to employees but ONLY for the 02s, so Ford is trying to unload the last of the 02s, but I don't know if market's come down that far on a used one as I'm not in the market to buy one anymore.

It will vary greatly by market for a while. Used ones around Atlanta are going for close to MSRP. The auctions are seeing $31 - $33,000 still.
There are markets that are discounting new 2002 Thunderbirds and they will depress the used market.
If Ford takes a price hike ($2,000 or more) on the 2003's, that will hold the used 2002 prices up a bit.
You don't say how many miles you have on your Thunderbird or what condition it is in, but that sounds too low even for a base convertible without a hard top.

Red,

You're right, that is vital information. I have 21,000 miles and the car is in excellent shape. It may be $2,000 low on each of those prices.

Interesting. I came up with these numbers for a blue premium w/hardtop, excellent condition, 8500 mi. - $27,895(trade-in) $29,737(private party) $33,102(dealer retail). No amount could get me to part with my bird, though. :)

I'm with you tr. I paid MSRP for my blue bird back in July and was offered $47,000 for it two weeks later by a desperate man looking for a blue one. Of course I turned him down. I wanted this car so bad I'm not sure $147,000 would have been enough!!!

Hi Gang, This is my first post. I'm asking the experts for fact or opinion. My dealer revised a stock order for a 2003 to a retail order for me last week. When should I anticipate delivery?

colonel, This all depends on your dealers allotment for the year and what order in that that he placed your order. Without that info it would be hard to say , but being this early in the yeat I would take a wild guess and say your car may be in in late Dec. or Jan. I'm sure others may be able to tell you more on this.
And welcome to TBN, Your Friendly, Active , and Informed site on the New Bird..
Welcome,

Colonel,
don't expect one in December - those are already going thru the line - unless you didn't change what your dealer had ordered (but I know you did). If it's your dealer's first 03 though, it could come in in January or February. A lot will depend on how many your dealer has been allotted.

Edmunds sounds low. Good used Birds going for mid-high 30s in DC area. Good points in previous messages that condition and mileage will affect price.

There is a NEW premium red with hardtop and partial red accent interior on EBay that closes tomorrow, no reserve auction, was only to $33,100 earlier today. May end up being a pretty nice deal for someone out there.

The first print ad for 2002 Tbirds by a local dealer that I have seen was in the Baltimore Sun this week-end. The dealer is offering the last two remaining '02's for $36999. No details re: Premium vs Deluxe, options, etc. Not a bad deal for a deluxe, and a great deal for a premium. We knew it was bound to happen. I think if Ford offered 0% financing, the remaining '02's would be gone in a flash, with little or no discount needed. This would protect our investment better too.

skip i believe its because the delay on the ls with the tranmision and extra hp that caused a delay on the 03 so there for they built more 02 than they were orginally and that is why they are there; i also heard you can get the ford a plan on them and the i think its called the x plan (friend of ford employee) on the 02

if i was looking i would check this out

The new red on EBay I mentioned earlier in this stream closes in less than one hour, and it's now up over $36,000.

I've been watching that one and my son predicted it would go for near sticker without reserve...I would wait for an 03 at this point I think.

Closed at $36,100. Nice deal. Looks like maybe a Ford dealer got it? Auction winner name was bayford.

Hi everyone:

This is my first post also. I have been wanting to buy a blue premium for several months now and have been following them closely on e-bay. I have been offered a blue premium with partial accent for 36,500 by a dealer in Pennsylvania. It seems like a fair deal. There is a local dealer in Point Marion, PA that had ten 2002's on his lot about two weeks ago. (He also had those same ten in early September at a $3K premium). As far as I know, he is still at MSRP, so I am waiting him out.

I would prefer the 03 model, but after seeing the "Thunderbird Blue" I knew that was the only color for me!

Thanks to everyone for all the great info so far!

Welcome David! Just be patient. You will find the blue car you want. We finally found ours in NJ in August. It was well worth the trip up there from Tennessee to pick it up for MSRP. Keep checking Ebay. That's where we found ours.

Keep us posted!:wavey::wavey:

Welcome aboard David! I would jump on that one in PA for $36,500. I bought my blue with partial accent in July for MSRP ($40,040). Had to go to NY to get it but well worth it.

I'm with you, I knew as soon as I saw the blue that it was the one!!

brd4jk, To quote a Very Learned Man  , Joelja, Blue is the Best. This is the last color that Ford announced they would make available for the 02. If it weren't for the blue color I don't know if my wife would have left me get one.

Really, any color New Thunderbird you can get will be good. They all look great.

OK, was I politically correct with that statement.:lol::rolleyes:

David- The deal for the blue is a good one. And you'll like the blue ALOT. It's a really sweet ride no matter the color, but I'm partial to the blue.
