Has anyone tried to negotiate a trade-in of their 02' for an 03'?

I am guessing $8,000...just a guess based on the fact that dealers are paying about $32,000 for them at auctions.

I don't understand how 02 Thunderbirds show up at auctions unless they have been wrecked.

It is quite simple - reposessions! - There were 2 auctions of reposessed cars here in Northern NJ that each had 1 '02 T-bird.

After I posted that comment I realized I had not taken into consideration E-Bay. I never thought about repo's though..

Early adopters are a fickle bunch. They tire easy and have to move on to the next deal. Others wanted to get a 2003 and thought they better bail out while the used prices were up.

The used prices were dropping about $750 a month here in the Atlanta area. Don't know where they are now, but must hae taken a big hit when they opened up A-Plan for Ford employees.

An interesting thing just happened, I was at my business and a man towing a small white car with a tow truck was buying a sandwich and asked me about my Thunderbird, he said that he was headed for Little Rock after he dumped the car he had in tow, then he was going to repo a yellow T-Bird that never had a payment made on it. I asked him where the car would be taken and he said auction, most likely Oklahoma City or Dallas. He said it wouldn't be a deal because they guy had traded in a junker for it and never made a payment and they still had to get top dollar for it. Does this sound right?

Anything is possible with the way they do financing these days, it's hard to tell. Could be true.
