Can youy post the Web site?

I declined the ESP when I picked up my 03 just a few weeks ago. They wanted $1,900 and change for seven years - 80K.

I gave 1100.00 and change for a 100k mile warranty, they started out at 1800.00 or 1900.00, I told them no way, then they came down. It might be a good idea to inform the salesman up front you're willing to negotiate the extended warranty, they are very negotiable.

I believe you can purchase the ESP at anytime prior to the end of the original 36 month/36,000 miles. Is this correct?

I thought there were more threads about extended warranty. Was this in a previous life (board)?

I got another reminder from Chrysler about purchasing an extended warranty for my Cruiser, which reminded me that I need to get one for the 'bird, too. Chrysler has a surcharge if you purchase after the initial 12k miles or 12 months. Are all extended warranties that way? If so, I really do need to find one by March.

I was told by my dealer that the price would go up if the car had more than 12K miles. Also he said Ford normally increases the price in August each year.:nono:

It used to cost the dealer an extra $100 to put the Ford Extended Service Plan on a vehicle beyond 12Mo./12,000 miles. Be realistic about how many miles you will drive and pick your plan accordingly.
Call around to all the dealers and ask them to give you their best quote on the plan you want. Make sure they are talking Ford ESP and not some Mickey Moose! plan. The Finance Managers usually quote the plans and sometimes the service departments sell them.
(When Ford runs contests for the F&I managers on ESP sales, they might be willing to sell them for a few bucks over cost to WIN a prize or trip).

Has anyone purchased the Ford ESP plan? I just received a
"reminder" in the mail from Ford today regarding the extended
coverage both for my 02 Explorer and Tbird.

To me, the plans are a "bit pricey" for the coverage. I do not
see a 10 yr/100,000 mile plan even offered. Not that I plan
to put nearly that many miles on my Bird, however it would
be at least "comforting" to know it was totally covered with
only a $100.00 deductible.

Anyone, purchased any third party coverage? Comments?

I'm skeptical if the dealer would honor these or perhaps "make
one jump thru hoops" to get the coverage in case you needed it.

Just wanted some input!

"Thanks All"!

:nono: Don't even consider a Non-Ford Extended Service Plan! Call your Service Managers and ask them if they will honor those plans and if they would recommend them. They often will pull anything to keep from paying out, or will specify junk yard parts or will go out of business. Search out information on the web about experiences with a specific Non-Ford ESP plan before you ever sign up for one. :nono::nono::nono:

I just got confirmation on my extended warranty. Since I'm not putting too many miles on the 'bird I went for the 7-year / 60k miles with a $50 deductible. (I looked at the $100 ded but the price difference was small.)

The local dealer quoted $1505 + tax.
I did a google search and found www.fordwarrantys.com Their price on the same warranty was $1270, no tax, and there is a March special subtracting $80 from the price. Net $1190. ($1110 for the $100 ded)

I called my local dealer and said...... can you match it? He would, except for the $80 special and the sales tax. If he had matched the special I would have paid the sales tax. He didn't. I didn't.

The warranty is a Ford-backed, offered by a dealer in Connecticut. The gentleman I asked questions of was quick to respond and very helpful. Did I mention I waited until the day before my 12-mo anniversary to do this? When Jack emailed my confirmation today he said 'Your coverage will be accessable to every Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealer in the country within the next 48 hours.' I'm still covered under the original warranty, but thought for grins I'd visit my local Mercury dealer later this week.

My experience was good and I'd recommend this same site if you're looking for an extended warranty.

I was quoted $525.00 for a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty from my dealer. It does pay to shop around for the warranty.

I just purchased (online) a Premium Care 7 year, 75K mile plan with $50 deductible from the above source for $1375, no tax. My local dealer wanted $2150 plus tax for the exact same coverage. My car is 10 months old with 7500 miles. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just purchased an ESP Premium Care Extended Warranty from
http://www.fordwarrantys.com/ for my 02 Explorer and Tbird.

As stated above, they've really got some great prices that
the dealers can't or won't match.

Fast, efficient, and prompt responses.

"Thanks" for posting this site! For anyone looking, I would
highly recommend.

I'm glad the site was helpful. I got copies of my paperwork today. It shows my 'bird is due for a couple of recalls (which I thought were taken care of) so I'll be taking her in next week.

Now if I were just working on commission! :sad2:
