Hi, this is Ryan. I'm 19. My Mom is a proud owner of her new 02 Bird. It's fully loaded. Before she drove off the lot we made sure that Lojack and a Viper alarm were installed. It's that remote control pager system, very cool.
Now for our Bird history.
My mom of course grew up with tbirds. My grandfather had a 55 and 57. He promised my Mom her own Tbird when she would graduate from High school, but he passed at 56 yrs old and she never got her tbird. My uncles took the 55 and 57. Years later, my mom buys an 89 tbird after winning it big on a certain horse race:) 7 years later, she gets a 96. 6 years later she gets a 2002:pbj:
She has been tracking the new design ever since late 97, when the MN12 was cut.
I'm proud that she followed her dreams, and stayed loyal to Ford. And that she also raised me on American built, rwd cars. The 89 is gone (too many bad drivers hit it).
I now drive the 96, and I spend my time at http://www.tccoa.com. (It's a young guy+car thing)
I was pleased to find a forum focusing on the new platform. I am waiting for the next Destination meeting.
Regards,
Ryan:pbj::pbj::pbj:

Welcome, Ryan. Thanks for sharing that story. We are well on our way to planning another fun gathering of the 'Birds for sometime in the Spring.....not Destination but a fantastic Spring get together. Keep checking this forum and keep posting.
In the meantime, some of you floks in the Midwest....Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Kansas, etc. should organize a fun weekend up in your area. It is easy to do and then we will all have more fun events to go to.

Welcome, Ryan. Think you are the youngest to post to this forum other than our forum administrators who can relate well with the young man -car thing.:biggrin:
Has she let you drive it yet?

Has she let you drive her new Bird? When did she get it? Nice photo. I love the color.

Thanks, all.
I have been lucky to drive it once, with her riding shotgun of course.
Also parking/driving from the garage, and little valet type situations like stores and resturants. It takes a while getting used to, the slightest touch of the gas and the thing launches!
We picked it up on 10/31, and I started browsing online in mid november for a new forum. She is not that good with the PC, (this forum snow will keep her distracted for a good 5 mins hehe), but she is loving the car.
Another side story:
When we were coming back that night, we were drving in tandem down the highway. She claimed that she was the mother bird and i was the younger bird, when we shifted leads and tailed eachother:toungue::pbj:
