Please mark your calendar for Saturday, June 18, the day before Father's
Day. That'll be our next get together/tour.

We'll be heading for Weatherford that day. George has a tour lined up the
previous week for our AACA group and we thought we could duplicate that
route. Save him some leg work. it'll take us off the freeway and along
country roads so will be leisurely, similar to our last tour. Time is still
up in the air but this tour will probably include lunch and a possible stop
in Springtown for ice cream. I'll let you know where we're going to gather
for this trip.

We will ask that you bring FRS radios if you have them - the small hand held
"walkie talkie" type radios for use during a caravan.

Please rsvp. if you're coming.

> Raindate: If the weather is misty, we'll still drive the route but if
> it's severe weather, we'll probably cancel until September as George & I
> will be unavailable for local events until mid-August - unless someone
> else wants to take charge for another date in July.

Karen, we'd love to have you come sometime. It's a little far for you for a one day tour but we could find a motel for you the next time.

I've found the spot for everyone to meet at - Starbucks on the west side of I35W at the Western Center exit, Haltom City/Ft Worth - first exit north of the I35W and loop 820 interchange.

Next update will include the time to meet.

Dot, we'd love to come next time. I can get to Dallas in 5 hours which isn't bad at all.

Dot, we'd like to come but our son and his family are coming in from Minnesota that day. Guess it would be nice if we were here since we haven't seen them since Thanksgiving.

just direct them along our route! We will miss you. George & I will be on the AACA tour this weekend and checking the last details at that time.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
For those attending:
I think a good time for us to meet will be on at 11 a.m. at the Starbucks. That should put us in Weatherford just in time for a late lunch - and some free time to explore some shops there.

count update:
1 05 Inca Gold - Dot & George
1 02 blue - Jim & Regina,
1 03 MSG - Fla_Bird
2 05 cashmere - Johnny & Kathy, Harry & Beverly
1 02 red - Bill & Susie,
1 02 yellow - Larry & Paula

I will have name tags this time.

Just to bring you up to date on this tour.

I set the time earlier to meet at 11am at the Starbucks at 35W and Western Center - first exit north of the I35W/loop 820 interchange. Starbucks is on the west side of the interchange on the left.

Barring freeway construction getting to the start point, we should have a leisurely drive. If you're planning on coming down I35W to the exit, you might want to hop onto 377 at 114 and come down - the construction north of the loop820 interchange may have traffic tied up.

Hi Fla-bird - so you need to find the start place. where are you located right now?

I'll pm you my phone number.

You'll need to find the north side of loop 820 where it intersects I 35 W northeast of Fort Worth. You'll get on I35 W and take the first off ramp - Western Center Blvd. then go under the freeway (left turn) and you'll see the Starbucks on the left side - hopefully with at least 1 tbird there when you show up.

You might be able to catch us - we'll get into Weatherford around 1:30, have lunch and give people some time to tour around Weatherford. We'll probably head out of town around 3pm or 3:30 - have a return tour planned with a SURPRISE stop.

We'll miss you - Have a Great Father's Day tomorrow.

---------------- M E R G E D ---------------

We started out at Joe's Crabshack parking lot right next door to Starbucks since they had more parking available - all 7 showed on time so we took off for Springtown and Weatherford. Sally called while we were on route and wanted to meet us in Weatherford - she showed up with her red 02 just as we were finishing lunch as she had had lunch with her nifty fifty's club a number of miles to the south of us.

Then we tried to follow the numbering system Weatherford had for their driving tour of homes - according to George that was a fiasco - it wasn't laid out very well in the book, my camera batteries went dead and had no time to replace them till that part of the tour was over and I had to tell him where to turn (he hates that part). We finished off our day's tour with a wine tasting at a small winery on the way home - soothed George's frayed nerves.:pinkie: Owner of winery has a black 57 t-bird.
Aside from the home tour - the trip went rather well - but a little hot so half went with tops up and a few braved the heat.
I'll post photos in my gallery.

Dot,
I want another Thunderbird BADLY, but the colors left out there, (the ones I can locate), don't appeal to me. :frown: Damn it! I wanted a LIME SORBET!
Also, my night vision, isn't worth a darn anymore, (actually it was bad when I was in my 20's), and I need Xenon headlights.
In recent years, I never went anywhere at night, especially if it was a new place, until I got my Phaeton, and the Navigation system is worth it's weight in GOLD! :first:
I went to Dr. Tylock in Irving for my eye surgery, and I had'nt been there since 1996. I knew how to get there from Dallas, but not from Fort Worth. The Nav system took all the pressure out of finding his office, and even with that tragic tanker truck wreck at 183 and Macarthur, which blocked off that exit, it helped me find it again, on my next visit.
I know there are after market Navigation systems, but the headlights in most American cars these days, won't make a P*** hole in the snow! :cussing:
They must think we drive the interstate ALL the time!

Jun 19, 2005, 10:04 PM
Kevin, we were all home by 6 - no night vision needed.

My brother in law loves the navigation system on his Lincoln Navigator. Tells him exactly where to go.:lol: He flew in here on business a couple weeks ago and had to put up with a rental without it and he really missed it.

Fred, We were glad to have you show up. You gave several of the 02 & 05 owners a chance to see a color they had never been up close to and some didn't know the color existed. Drive carefully and enjoy your continued tour.
