    Re: Owners Age Poll 2011

I am in the last group. And, if there were another group AFTER that, I would be in that one!!! Oye!!

Lots of cars over all those years, but none that even approached the pleasure that my BIRD brings. Perhaps, because the BIRD brings a whole new set of friends. None of my previous vehicles came equipped with a whole bunch of new friends.

To quote a certain person I know:
IT IS NOT ALL ABOUT THE CARS, IT IS ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO DRIVE THEM!<

            Re: Owners Age Poll 2011

Let's just say that I am an octogenarian. That is OLD!
But, thankfully, I keep on having birthdays. And, I keep on enjoying my T Bird.

I will carry a dignitary in my Bird next week in the annual Veteran's Day Parade here in Orlando. It is one of the largest in the country every year. Quite a thrill, and fun to participate in a patriotic event.

                          Re: Owners Age Poll 2011

I’ve spoken to a lot of Ford execs, and there are no plans for a new T-bird anytime in the foreseeable future. But Ford won’t let the ‘Thunderbird’ name or brand die. It’s what they call a ‘halo’ or ‘legacy’ car. The 2002-2005 may not have been profitable for Ford, but they will make another one at some point in the future. Though, based on the average age on the poll I don’t think many of us will be around to see it.

Just curious ... how many of you would buy a new Thunderbird now, say if Ford came out with say a 2014-15 model?

Imagine what might be created if Ford ‘outsourced’ the design to an Italian design house like Pinafarina?

Just to be accurate, the correct spelling is ‘Pininfarina,’

                            I’m a writer, what can I say?

As long as it was a 2-seater, V-8, rear-wheel drive, fine, I probably would. Otherwise, no way. I refuse to drive front-wheel drive vehicles, and despise anything smaller than V-8s. No arguments from the peanut gallery, please...I've got 4 V-8s (Charley can keep his V-6 '89 Bird - I won't even ride in it), and if my Expedition wears out before I do, I'll get a new one. Not likely (I only have 46K on it).

I'm not trying to start an argument, but have you ever tried an in - line 6 cylinder? If not you might find they are a great compromise. I actually like them as well as a V8. The problem is that I think BMW is the only Mfg. that is still making a substantial number of them.
