Re: Thunder In The Ozarks - A Heartland Chapter TBN Mini-Event

No problem, Dave. We worked hard with all the venues to get a reduced price that is all inclusive and an even dollar figure. Since we wanted individual pay, we promised the venues that we would promote cash as the preferred method of payment. We suggested exact change to make everyone's life easier.

Re: Thunder In The Ozarks - A Heartland Chapter TBN Mini-Event

Not wanting to jinx anyone, and I'm a rookie to these events, but, is there a reputable Ford/Lincoln dealer in the area just in case? I'm wondering if maybe a heads up to a local dealer would be in order as there is always Murphys Law and with this many Birds ascending to the area.... I'd be happy to make a phone call or two if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations.

Re: Thunder In The Ozarks - A Heartland Chapter TBN Mini-Event

Now you've done it, ha! Seriously, I wouldn't worry about too much.

Two of the hosts Bill Green and Boyd Nutt live in Rogers and have their cars serviced at the local dealer, so we know that they are used to seeing Tbirds as much as any of them are these days (or ever were).

As for the most common issue, COPs replacement, we've changed them out in the parking lots of more than one hotel, so there isn't much worry there.

Re: Thunder In The Ozarks - A Heartland Chapter TBN Mini-Event

Wow, when most of you read this we will only be a week away from Thunder In The Ozarks kicking off on Thursday March 23rd. Bill, Boyd and I look forward to hosting you for the weekend. We think we have put together an event that will make your long drives worthwhile.

A few things to remember to bring:

1. TWO-WAY RADIOS - these will be a must for navigating the roads in the Northwest Arkansas, both in the cities and the Ozarks. We will use Channel 4.

2. CASH - your life will be easier and faster paying with cash at the restaurants and other venues.

3. NAME TAG - from a previous event or your local car club.

4. BEVERAGES AND SNACKS - we will not be providing hospitality food and drinks.

5. NATIONAL PARK SENIOR PASS - also your National Park Passport if you collect the stamps from each location.

6. APPETITE - The one thing we do better than any other at TBN events is eat.

For those that like to look at maps of routes we are planning to take, you can check them out with these links:

Friday March 24th:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Stay...36.3405405!3e0

We will not be printing these maps as the caravan leaders may have to call an audible at the last minute. If you want a printed copy feel free to make them for yourself.

Went to my bank on Tues and got the number of each denomination you provided to us in post #133. Anxiously awaiting our departure on Tues AM 3/21/17. We'll be stopping in Montgomery, AL Tues night then an easy drive on Weds to Tupelo MS Auto Museum where we meet up with the Atlanta caravan.

Way to go, Richard. We are sure looking forward to you and Tom joining us for the weekend. You'll both love the museum in Tupelo and I'm sure your VMG will fit right in with that Georgia bunch for the caravan on Rogers.

This would be an interesting future Arkansas event.

Gene, as you can see on the web site, that is a long ways from NWA so someone else would have to work on the Diamonds!!!

I know, it would need to be a separate future event. A 14 year old boy just found a 7 carat diamond there in 30 minutes of searching. Lucky kid!

Re: Thunder In The Ozarks - A Heartland Chapter TBN Mini-Event

Some days are diamonds, some (most) days are stones ....

I've never understood how so many people can dig in the same location and continue to find diamonds. Sometimes I wonder if that place is "seeded" with diamonds to keep people coming back.

I can't see most TBNers digging in a field for awhile and then tracking the dirt back into their T-bird.

I'm sure you are right, Paul. I doubt that I could walk in that field without doing a face plant. I have enough trouble on pavement.

Just for your information, Friday chance of rain is ranging from 70% to 90% and Saturday chance of rain is ranging from 40% to 60%. So you may want to bring along your umbrellas.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Let's look at it on the bright side - it could be snow instead of rain. As far as I know, no retrobird has ever melted from being rained on.

Can't wait to see old friends and get to know some new ones!

Mint Bird is not feeling well and has to stay home. Tom is picking me up tomorrow morning in his Torch Red. Will meet up with Mr & Mrs Cpubob sometime tomorrow on our way to Montgomery AL. Bob, Virginia, Tom & myself will travel together on Wednesday to the Tupelo Auto Museum where we will join the Georgia caravan.

Umbrellas packed!

Have fun....wish we could be there, but we've been in the area (Eureka Springs) twice in the past month, including 1 week ago. We have family in Eureka, but couldn't go this week.

Mike, I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you. Didn't realize you had family in Eureka Springs. Sometime time when you are going up for or returning from a visit you should swing by Tahlequah to say hi.

We are in Ridgeland, MS on our way to the Ozarks. Beautiful weather we saw 90 degrees in Meridian, MS. I hope we see near the same in the Ozarks.

Re: Thunder In The Ozarks - A Heartland Chapter TBN Mini-Event

What a delightful visit with Margaret and Charlie at the Shuckers Oyster Bar in Ridgeland, MS. They both know how much I like my banana splits, but Shuckers does not have them on the menu. When I asked the server if they had banana splits she said she would see what she could do. I did not have very high hopes for a banana split at a bar, but was I ever surprised when she came back carrying this great Mississippi Banana Split. Margaret and Charlie went to the trouble of bringing ice cream and banana popsicles to surprise me. Those popsicles are better than real bananas so now this is my favorite banana split. Thanks so much to Margaret and Charlie for treating me and Liz to a great evening.
