    Firmware update on your TBird Poll

    I had the car serviced a week ago and decided to ask them to check for any COP (coil on plug) codes and also for any firmware updates for the car's computer. Thankfully, there were no COP issues noted, but there was an update. $77 later I drove back. It may be wishful thinking on my part, but it definitely seems more responsive; not giant amounts, but noticeable. I think that it was worth it.

    There was a thread about this, but it is a bit long in the tooth since it dates back a few years. Rather than continue that thread, I've attached a link for it here if anyone wants to see what others did at that time and the results.

    May have that done some day but after 9 1/2 years I don't see a reason for it at this point.

      I think your poll needs to be reworked to provide useful infomation.

      We need a way to give either a positive or negative vote for each model year.
      21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

          Paul, I appreciate the suggestion, it's a good one, but I don't see a way to modify the poll. Sorry.

              I think that Paul had a good suggestion regarding adding a negative component, which I take to mean "did not update firmware". If that could be added for each year I think it would be an interesting comparison. Many thanks for your help!

                Many of our birds are now owned by the 2nd, 3rd, or even a 4th owner. Maybe add a category for "Don't know".

                Will Ford's OASIS report tell an owner if the updates have been made?

                  Those are good questions, Charlie, but I'm afraid I don't have the answers. It would make sense if there were records for that VIN, but I don't know if it would be OASIS, or the local dealer database that had them stored. Maybe someone else will provide those answers.

                          I haven't had any updates done. But I'll think to ask about it the next time I have one of the T-Birds in for service at Team Ford.
