    Re: Satisfied with Your Bird.

I have mixed feelings abouth my 'Bird...What dissapoints me about it, is that at almost every car show I go with the car, people (except a few) aren't interested in it...Most just walk by, not making a single comment and seem more interested in going to see the next car...WHY?...I don't know for sure...Maybe people are more interested in large motored muscle cars or some more sought after cars?...Obviously, the T-Bird doesn't fall into any of these categories and seems more like a "novelty" item than a desirable one. I know that most people here will disagree with that because we're all T-bird enthusiasts here, but in the "real" world, sadly, the '02-'05 T-Bird just doesn't draw much attention among car enthusiasts. It's a car that's not easy to "classify", not being a powerful muscle car, also having been produced in too large numbers to become a collectible in the near future.
At first when I bought it, I was very enthusiastic about it, but now I understand that people were looking at it simply because it was a new model. Don't get me wrong...I still LOVE my car...Sometimes I look at my 'Bird parked in my garage and say to myself "how gorgeous it is" !...but at the same time, I have the feeling I'm the only one who feels like that about it...
Of course, I bought the car for MYSELF which is what counts, but a good word of encouragement or just a good comment once in a while wouldn't hurt and would surely make myself more proud about it!...It's the main reason why every now and then, I want to sell it and get something else...but I haven't done it yet!
    Claude.

      I agree with 2fast4u.

On the street, I will get a fair amount of looks and positive comments.

But, at car shows, the car doesn't get much attention. Too many other cars to look at, I guess.

(Pulled into a local Wed night car show last week, and no one even came over to look.)

But, who cares? My 64 Galaxie is my car show car.

For what it is and is supposed to be it is an outstanding car. I bought it exactly for what Ford intended it to be. Any 2 seater is a special car, some handle, some fast , some cute, but the Bird is in a class by it's self I have to admit that people who grew up in 50's are most attracted to it.

Perhaps the car is still too "new" to merit much attention?

When I take my pristine 2005 Thunderbird to a car show in 45 years for the 100th Anniversary of the Thunderbird, I'm willing to bet you it will get some attention.

See you there, Will! We can sit around and complain about the young whippersnappers with their newfangled 2030 T-Birds that will likely be hovercrafts.

I'd be happy if they just looked at ME in 45 years...nevermind the car!

Absolutely, looking forward to it! In 45 years, I'll only be 76. Hopefully by then, humans are living into their early 100s on a regular basis. All the more time I can enjoy my T-Bird!

                    Re: Satisfied with Your Bird.

At the shows, the younger guys tend to hang around the new musclecars. Middle aged folks are hanging around the 60's musclecars and early Vettes. Some old guys, like me, drool over anything that's pristine from the 50's/60's, while those a bit older go for the few 30's and earlier cars.

I get a lot of "my dad had one of those" comments when I show the Galaxie. Frequently, I'll get a request to allow someone to have a picture taken with them inside the car.

                    How can I refuse?

I agree that whoever has my 2003 TBird 25 years from now will have a popular old car show car.

I think the main reason we aren't big at car shows is the newness. My grand kids can show mine meanwhile I am going to drive it relive the good life again.

In 45 years, I'll be 103......Dunno if I'll still be around, but by then, my drivers permit will probably be revoked, so no more driving the 'Bird!
