Re: Politics And Religion "Paid Members Forum"

Well then, why can't we have BOTH?
A TBN site, with a "Private Paid" forum on the side?
Believe you me, all you J.F. haters out there, will be willing to RIP me to schreds!
I'm reading her book as we speak, and trying to understand WHY she did, WHAT she did?
I NEVER agreed with it, AT ALL, but I'm sure there's enough of of you out there who are willing to ATTACK me, MASSACRE me, no matter what!
    Well.......................................?
Spice is the variety of life!

    ---------------- M E R G E D ---------------

    My Goodness!
Don't we have some "tight" people on this web site?
A HUNDRED BIG ONES? I ain't no millionaire, but TBN has been a WONDERFUL source of information for me, and I can't express my gratitude, for what it has provided me with, in the past two years!

Re: Politics And Religion "Paid Members Forum"

John, that isn't it at all!
I get my feelings hurt quite easily, but I'm also aware of the "needs" of TBN members.
We are a "Tight" group of people who will fight like "family" among ourselves, but if anyone attacks from "Outside" we will band together to anniliate them!
Two weeks ago, (if you look at my post) I wouldn't have EVER agreed to this,
but after some thought, maybe it can be a healthy outlet for TBN members, without having to go to another site.
Keep in mind, the forum I'm talking about would be a "Paid Members Only", and this WOULD NOT be accessable to anyone, or everyone!
So if you don't want to see it, you won't have to!

Re: Politics And Religion "Paid Members Forum"

If there were to be a fund drive for the Justins, then why not just do that? Why the hell would anyone need a "private" forum to discuss religion and politics? That shouldn't be a part of a forum designed as a Thunderbird site in any case. If religion and politics are what you want, why be here at all? We have over 2000 members, if the Justins need 10K, then all we have to get is 100 of us able to "invest" $100 and they are there. I just don't see why there has to be a divisive issue. Perhaps a $100 "investment" would entitle one to a lifetime membership with access to everything. Any other ideas?

Perhaps, if you'd been a member of TBN longer, you'd understand!
You can only discuss, Borla Exhaust, SS Strips, Wheel Wax, or
Port Hole Decals, untill you're ready to scream!

We need somewhere, someplace, where we can discuss the things that take place in our "Everyday Lives!" Without being moderated, attacked, deleted, or banned!

Yep. You have been around four or five months longer than I have. Seems to me there is plenty of off topic threads on this site. As far as the need for a "private forum" I guess I still don't understand.

I don't think that's quite fair. Ted joined only five months (maybe even closer to four) after you did. As for me, I am definitely a new member. But even being new doesn't mean that you haven't read as many threads about "Borla Exhaust, SS Strips, Wheel Wax, or Port Hole Decals" as you can get your eyes on. Not to mention the many other T-Bird-related topics.

I think you'd agree that our everyday lives involve lots of interesting things that can be discussed besides politics or religion. Most of the activity in the "Off Topic" forum would seem to support that notion.

Agreed on at least some of that. I think there's a bit more of some of those things going on at times than I'm comfortable with. I probably wouldn't have closed the Politics and Religion etc forum, but that wasn't my call to make, and I don't fault those who made the call. I rarely posted to that forum, but I did occasionally enjoy reading it. But, FWIW, I would not be interested in paying to join a private forum such as you've proposed.

I will, however, look forward to enjoying more of your posts in the future, in whatever forum they happen to appear.

                  Cheers,

                  Kevin

EDIT: Hmmm... had I not been so long of wind and slow to type, I guess I would have seen Ted's last reply. Sorry for the repeated stuff.

                    Kevin,
While I'm not a founding member or any other position at TBN I have been here for sometime and I am opposed to creating this type of forum but I'm not oppose to making a donation. But if there is an interest in a religous / political forum then so be it, however, I will ignore it.
Just everyone involve please do not let it spill into the other forums and don't carry ill fellings out to other forums.

                              Tony.
Inevitably, hard feelings can come out of a forum discussing these topics. These are passionate issues and ones that others will go to great lenghs to substantiate their point of view. I do belive ill feelings could spill over to other forums. There always have been discussions here other than Tbird topics. We have the need to respect the points of view of all members. This is supposed to be a fun place where we go to relax, have fun, communicate with friends and become informed. IMHO, it should be kept this way.

Folks, use your heads. What's the 1st thing your parents taught you about any kind of relationship? Discussing politics and religion is the best way to end one. We already have bad feelings between members, members who have left, members who shy away from one and other and banishments, and you wanna what? Sorry but a very bad idea.
