The Feb. Motor Trend has an interesting article on a new car that Chevy is seriously considering building: the Sting Ray. It will be a V-6 version of the Kappa sports car (Solstice/Sky). It would be a muscular, entry level, well equipped sports car priced under the Corvette, but priced well above the Solstice/Sky. They are considering the 3.6 liter, 255 HP engine that's in the Cadillac CTS. The article doesn't say when it might go into production, if it gets the green light from GM.

Dino,
I read an article in Car and Driver (I believe that was it) about the Mallet Solstice. It was pretty interesting, but the price tag was over $50,000. I've been to the Mallet shop and they do great work (specialize in performance Vettes).
I think the conclusion of the article was that for the money you would come out about as well just to buy the Vette.
Ron,
Thanks for the clarification. I would agree that the Vette would be the logical choice at that point.
The sides and back are a big thumbs up from me. The front... well, the more I look at the pics, the more it grows on me. Mrs. SuperSport doesn't like the front at all. The rumor mill has it all but offically green lighted for an '09 model launch with a price rumored by Bob Lutz to be about 2k above a Mustang. We'll have to see. Personally, the next addition to my fleet, but not for a couple of years yet, will either be a Solstice GXP or a Vette... at least for the moment.

Darn... I hate when a car gets mooted from production!
