Never shifted my '03 for the first three years I owned her. Finally tried it one day and it seemed to work fine. Shortly thereafter, I got the dreaded "E" on the dash where the P, R, or whatever should be displayed. Had an extended warranty and they replaced the valve throttle body that others have had done at what would have been a cost of around $800 without the warranty. Works fine now, though not as much pep as previously following the computerized tranny update. I asked if they could do that again since the repair must have cancelled out the first one. Not under warranty, they said.
Needless to say, I've not used the select shift again!
