    Re: Retirement Poll

This poll demographic justifies the statement that a large majority of the people who bought the Retro remember the original and/or its' introduction.

I had no idea it was this skewed.

        Re: Retirement Poll

I retired from the federal government on October 27, 2006, took two full days off, and started working again on October 30, 2006. That pension check comes in handy with one in college and one on the way to college soon.

          Re: Retirement Poll

Can't even think about it. Will be impossible for me to ever retire as I couldn't afford to do so. Every time over the past three years, if we manage to get ahead at all, some tax will increase or one of us has to see a doctor for something and it ends up costing us thousands. I won't even have my house paid for until I'm 73 (I'm 47 right now).
I'll drop dead working at some point and won't have to worry about all of it. My only hope is that in about 15 years, my wife can stop working.

              Re: Retirement Poll

Just took the poll, retired at the beginning of 2006. Bought "Annie" in August of '06. In less than one year over 50% of the current TBN membership will be retired. Sounds like bigger events will be coming in the near future. I was awestruck by 70+ Thunderbirds at Maggie Valley at the end of August, 2007. Just imagine what 2008 and 2009 can be if we all stay healthy! Thanksgiving Blessings to all of you from the Ellisons in Charleston, SC.

                  Re: Retirement Poll

My thunderbird will be over 20 years old before I am eligible for full retirement, so those events better keep coming for the next two decades.

Who knows maybe I'll win the lottery inherit a fortune from a long lost relative or find a SugarDaddy II In the meantime I'll be slaving away at a daily gig.

                    Re: Retirement Poll

Rosetta will be retiring next month after 30 years as a federal employee. She is looking forward to not having to be on Uncle Sam's schedule, but she does still like her job as a dental assistant so I won't be surprised if she finds a part time job doing it somewhere in the next few months.

I will finish my 30 years as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service in 2008. My scheduled retirement date will be September 1st but I'm hoping to extend till January 1, 2009. This will not only help me with a little extra retirement, it will also give me a chance to see a couple of projects we have going get finished up. If I work at as a pharmacist after retirement it will be 100% on my schedule as I don't intend to miss any event that is planned because of work commitments. Also, I want us to be free to travel around and see all of the great parts of the United States that we have never been able to visit. Also, we plan on spending much more time with our kids and their families that are scatered around the country than we have been able to in the past.

My countdown clock in my signature represents the amount of time until my hoped for January 1st date. If I don't get an extenstion then it will be adjusted to September 1st.

                      Re: Retirement Poll

I was forced to retire in Oct 2001, due to bad health. Blenda retired in March 2005 to help me get to all my medical appointments. Fortunately we have been able to travel some and to attend many Thunderbird events. Life has been pretty good to me and I am enjoying being retarted.
