    Re: BCS Championship Game

    CONGRATULATIONS FLORIDA GATORS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!

Wow, what an exciting game! I went to bed before halftime. Where were all the points everyone thought would be scored? I agree with Bob, teams rusty, too long a layoff, yet another reason for a playoff format to keep the teams playing and sharp. Based on the highlights I saw on ESPN this morning, Florida's defense was the star of the game.

PS- One other thing, I'm 1 for 1 on my predictions for 2009 now.

I wondered tonight as I thought about him coming back next year whether he might just skip the NFL and go on to other things.

I heard a talking head this AM rave about Tebow and what a fantastic college QB he is and without question, he is. What surprised me was that the talking head said he will probably not get drafted into the NFL or if he did get drafted he would not be picked until late in the draft…. Basically said he was not an NFL QB and placed McCoy from Texas in that category as well. I guess I am uneducated on what makes a NFL QB.

As far as my team goes – alas, another fricken bowl defeat. A game they could have and should have won but it was not to be and I congratulate Florida.

The Sooner Nation is sad and next year’s team will not be as good as the one on the field last night… Would have loved to seen the game played with the 3 OU defensive starters and OU’s #1 running back who were all out due to injuries in the game but that is the way it goes. I believe Florida had some key player banged up as well.

We certainly did also. But the key was our Defense. One that OU had never seen before. Add that to the versalty of Tebow (Gotta love those shovel passes, right up the gut) which he is famous for, and it brought to us an exciting game. OH, and don't even look for Tebow to go to the NFL. He has other plans, with his family, which, makes him who he is, an all round good American College Kid!!

As for OU, I don't think I have ever seen a Quarterback with such an accuarte arm, no matter what the situation brought, as did he. It was a great game!!

Without a doubt Florida's defense should have been named MVP of the game. The two goal line stops late in the second quarter after OU marched down the field made all the difference in the game. How much different it would have been if they had gone in at halftime 21-7.

The Florida defense adjusted at halftime as well as anyone could have and far better than any have done all year against OU's potent offense. I will say that OU's defense played very well as well, but had one achilles heal - 3rd down! I couldn't believe that no matter what they couldn't stop them on 3rd down after holding them well on the first two. But even at that holding a high powered Florida offense to 24 points was a good showing for the defense and before the game most folks would have thought it would have been enough to win.

I probably jinxed OU. I actually wanted them to win and even bought an OU hat to wear yesterday. It will probably be a long time before it sees the light of day again.

McCoy is coming back, I assume Tebow is and Bradford needs to get another year in before going pro so next year could be just as exciting. Too bad it will probably be messed up by this BCS mess.

Great comments from real fans. It's interesting that some sports writers don't think Tebow or McCoy would be NFL quarterbacks. I wonder if those same genius' would have said the same about Flacco and Ryan. Football is a team game. It requires the QB to fill just one slot on the team. In the past few years we have seen the NFL become pass crazy. With few exceptions, there has been only one running back on a team and their role was to take the heat off the QB by providing a run/pass option in the playbook. But a look at this years successful teams shows how important the running game has again become. The Eagles have discovered that in the latter portion of the season and as a result got a chance in the playoffs. Anyhow, it looks like the playoff issue is on the front burner again, but I think it will get pushed to the back again in a week or less. I was wondering where the NCAA is in all this. Where did the BCS come from?

I think Florida, Utah, Texas and USC should all be co-champs.
