Re: Did you Buy New Or Used? Poll #2

I THINK THIS ONE VOTE THING IS OUT OF HAND. IT SHOULD BE ONE VOTE PER THUNDERBIRD. SECOND ON THE NM, SECOND ON THE DSB, THIRD ON THE 007, SECOND ON THE VMG, AND SECOND ON THE IG. FORD WOULD NOT LET ME BUY ONE ON THE "A" PLAN, SO I PROTESTED FOR SIX YEARS BEFORE I BOUGHT ONE. I HAVE MADE UP FOR THE WAIT.

      Sorry Ron,
The Poll software will not allow that many options.

We bought our 02 new. Placed order in January 2001 and took delivery on Nov. 5, 2001. 8 years and 49,000 miles later it still runs like new.

I brought my 05 new May 07, 2005 after becoming totally infatuated with it at first sight. That infatuation still exsist 4 1/2 years later! Unfortunately, I'll never get to meet whoever will buy my "BEAUTY" as she's mine till the day that I pass on.

Bought the 2002 in Sept. 2008, was so enchanted with the Thunderbird that I bought my second one, a 2005, in Sept. 2009, just one year later, second owner of each, they are both very enchanting driving machines with so much lore and history behind the T-Bird, and I too may never meet the next owner!

Bought new 05 in April 05. Waited the four years to get the 50th anniversary edition. Almost caved in 04 for the Merlot.

                Roger,
You can only pick one, we need an option for those with more then one Bird. Can it be done?

EDIT- Never mind, I see it can't be done.

I am the 2nd owner of a 2003 007 James Bond. I wanted a Bird ever since I saw the concept at the L.A. Car Show. My friend convinced me to buy a Honda S2000. I still have it, it's fun to drive.

I always wanted yearned for a T-Bird. My Ex wife didn't want it. (see my post in When I bought my first retro).

I dgot a divorce, decided it was time to buy. I researched the web for all the info before I settled on 3 birds to look for. Desert Sky Blue because when I was a kid, my parents had a 1962 Baby Blue. 2004 VMG, low production number of 612. 007 because KBB list price higher than any other Retro Bird produced. It will be the most valuable of all Retro Birds as they get older and harder to find.

Besides, Coral is a pretty color all the women love to be seen in.

Re: Did you Buy New Or Used? Poll #2

When I decided on buying one after I had retired, I saw a white and yellow model on the 'net (can't remember the year) available from a dealer in Ohio.

I called the local dealer -here in SoCal- to see if he had any in stock, so I could test drive one before flying out halfway across the country.

He had a used '05 available, so we drove out to see and test drive it. As soon as they wheeled it into sight, I was dead meat. The color alone sold me. It only had 6,000 miles on it, and I got it for about 10 grand below new sticker price.

I've tricked it out a bit.

My one vote went for Goldilocks which I ordered and purchased new in May of '05, but I'm the second owner of Moondoggie, purchased from Don Fox, who ordered and purchased it new in Feb of '05.

Speaking of Don, I see he's been lurking here lately. Maybe he'll come back to the fold someday!

Paul said it all. I bought mine, (unoficially) in 2000 and placed the order on Jan 8, 2001. Finally picked it up in October that year after the Manage the Wait program and the frustration of it being returned to Michigan in the original recall in June.

Now it has about 90,000 miles or should I say 90,000 SMILES!

These have been the best 8 years, best Smiles and best friends anyone could ask for. Oh, and the car is terrific too!
Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

I have owned many convertibles in my lifetime starting with a 55' yellow T Bird. I lived in Europe for many years and bought an 86 BMW 3 series Cabrio and left it there when I came back to the States in '91 at which time I bought a '91 LeBaron and dumped it for a '94 BMW 3 series convertible, then a '98 z3. In a moment of craziness I traded the z3 for a Forrester which left my wife and me with no convertible until I had surgery in '04 and in the hopes of giving me something to live for my wife insisted on buying a new T Bird. We have 75k miles on it now and we plan to keep it going like an old airplane, replacing parts before they go. It was worth the surgery. We both love the car because it is special.
