    How many have gone to a Driving school?

    The comments on the Broken Wings thread prompted me to ask about driving courses. I did a 3-day school at Road Atlanta about 12 years ago and, although I had raced and rallied for many years when I was in my teens and early 20's, I was astounded to learn how much I didn't know.

    Driving schools like that and the Bondorant School are invaluable.

    My dad sent me to the Bob Bondurant school many years ago. Loved it. You never forget the skills they teach you, and they've saved me more than once!

      Attended Bondorant school in California in 78 or 79...... It was a street car school.
      In Sonoma if I am remembering it right.

        If by professional you mean they charged me, then I did...my dad made me pay him $10.

          SInce I am an Instructor for the state, I guess you could say I've been to professional school(s). NHTSA, State of Maryland and Feds.

            I had Drivers Training in High School. In Indiana at that time you could get a Beginers Permit at 15 1/2 years old. The Class helped you prepare for the Beginers Permit test so you could get it. With the Beginers Permit you could drive with a licenced driver with you. The school had 2 drivers training cars, when I had the class. A 59 Chevy that was a stick-shift and a brand new 60 Chevy with a automatic. We had to learn to drive both. At 16 you could take the Driving Test at the Licence Bureau that included a multiple choice test, eye exam, and a driving test with person from the Licence Bureau, usually with your parents car. And yes you had to paralel park. My Wife and I have also both taken the ABATE motorcycle riding class. We took the two day school in Indianapolis,In. in 1995. It was fun and we learned some valuable tips. We rode thier bikes through differant situations and obsticals. By taking the class we also got a discount on our insurance. Because of Arthritis in both knees, I had to give up riding in 2003. But now that I've had 2 new knees installed, I wish I had my Harley back sometimes. Leroy

              I attend a state-sponsored school whenever I get a ticket (unless it's been too recent since the previous one). Hasn't done me any good...

              (Truth be told, I haven't had a ticket since I got the TBird. But it's only been 19 months.)

                I drove a Cab when I was going to college in Chicago. Not a race driver driving school, but I sure learned a lot about defensive driving. LOL

                    Never done that but did take a 3 day boating course.

                    Really, would like to do that because you get a discount on insurance if you do.

                          We had basic pursuit driving and defensive driving at the police academy. Later I took an advanced course where we learned the j- turn and the PIT maneuver. Never used any of the later moves but since retirement I have been tempted to PIT some of these aholes who cut in and out on the Turnpike.

                            Attended POPS driving school.

                            Learned to drive the family 51 Plymouth wagon on NH highways at age 15, year 1958.

                              McKenzie & I are enrolled right now in a canine obedience class ($120). I guess it's more for her than for me. Does that count?
