Re: Do You Plan to Purchase a 50th Anniversary Bird?

In order to peak my interest in an '05 Annv. Bird Ford is going to have to do something more than offer different colors and badging. I am perfectly happy with my '03 Red.

I did not plan on trading mine off when I purchased and I have not found any thing that has changed my mind
      Birds of the 48

I'm extremely happy that we just traded for my PCR. The only thing that could make me trade at this point is the potential of bankruptcy!!! (actually, that's not funny, is it?)

The knew she better do something to close the door on a 2005. The PCR did just that. I guess I'll be holding on to my 2002. Thanks Queeny.

I love and am real happy with my 03 MSG, but recently I've been thinking (if this love continues) that maybe I'll buy the final 2-seater they produce. When will that be, 2006?

                2005 version

I want a Thunderbird so badly. It just was not financially possible for me to do it in 2004. I am just hoping the price does not get ridiculous.

I hate to say this, but, a lot of 02's should be hitting the dealer lots soon, as their leases are running out. Those should be most affordable. Those that have them will probable opt for the 05, with the horsepower added, different dash applicay's and new color choices. Just don't expect much barganing on the 05's, as everyone will tell you it's the last year of "scheduled" production.

Re: Do You Plan to Purchase a 50th Anniversary Bird?

I'd hoped in 2001 that the production run would be sufficient for me to get Amadeus paid for and then get an '08 as the final year run. It'd most likely have been my last auto purchase. My "mozartian" baby will still be under the payment plan in '05, and short of Ed McMahon sobering up to deliver my sweepstakes winnings, I couldn't afford the payments on another one at the same time.

I like having the very first one to hit the streets here. The Thunderbird Blue is a unique color, so it has too much going for it for me to consider parting ways.

I guess, unless news of the rebirth of the Thunderbird comes along in time, that I may have to get a next generation 'Stang when Amadeus is paid off (if I get the new car itch).

Only if the 2005 has retractable hardtop, will I buy one. Or, if they came out as a Coupe....... But, I will not give up my '02 either.

It will have to be a very special version (more than color and badging) for me to buy. If the 50 Annv. is an SC then I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

In a way, I'd love to have one. If the financial opportunity happens to present itself, I would opt to use those funds to buy a little bird (55-57) since I already have a new version. I think having both would create the Ultimate garage.

John, don't rule out buying a pre-owned Thunderbird. There are many out there for 'ridiculously' low prices. Most of the cars were never daily drivers and have very low miles. For instance, the just let her MSG '03 go (to get the PCR) and it only had 2900 miles on it. The car was always garaged during the winter and I know of only one time she was caught in the rain. Sitting at the dealership, it looked better than any '04 they had on the lot.

All 2005 models will be 50th Anniversary models with fender badging. Special color(s) will be announced after the beginning of the model run. We do not know yet if 2005, 6, or 7 will be the final year of production for this body style.

It will not have a retractable hard top. The biggest surprise they could pull off would be the Jaguar R engine in a few thousand 'birds. The supercharger (390 HP) would just cap it for most of us.

I'll take one with the Jag engine. I would like red but any color will do. Watch out Viper, Vette and Euro owners, we comin'.
