Our local classic TBird car club has one (in fact 57TBird has one on his grille) , we just put in our order for one a few weeks ago. They are attractive, non-damaging, metal (as I recall) and the cost was $20. They attach with long screws that attach to a bracket that is placed BEHIND the gridwork of the grille. They do not attach to the car itself...no new holes! If correctly attached, I don't see how they could damage the grille.
We can try to find out who manufactors them. TBirdWalker might know.

Jerry, count me in for sure! And to follow up on Karyl's comment about the mounting, she is correct...no holes. I have seen these medalions with a rubber backing which would come in contact with the grill, so there would be no damage.

This could be a great add on!!

          Hot off the Grill

Sounds like a great idea, but I'd want to see one first before I'd commit to buying one.

If the medallion had a rubber backing or washer behind it, and a similar setup for behind the grill, it could be sandwiched front and back around the grill with a couple of screws, while the rubber on the front and back of the grill would prevent damage from rubbing or overtightening of the screws.

It would be up the manufacturer selected and I'm not even sure they make them from metal anymore. Plastic is certainly a possibility. The medallion would need to be backed with something to protect the coating on the grill's grid work. If I thought I would even get the first scratch from one of these, then I wouldn't consider putting one on my car. Displaying medallions are what a lot of the finer sportscar clubs are doing. As Karyl posted earlier, we ordered one from our local classic Tbird club. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, we'll receive it. If I like what I see, then I'll seek more information. Here again, this is not something you'd want to make for a handful of people. I think it would definitely drive the cost up if we could not purchase in mass.

And yes, the example of the Olds medallion is not a good one. Can't dispute that.

                Target for Kids

Then again, putting a medallion like this on your car is like putting a target or bullseye on your car for thieving little bastards to take. And they might not stop at the medallion. They might even pop off your hood and trunk T-Bird emblems while they're at it.

Hell, if someone at my health club took my keys out of my gym bag to steal the contents of my wallet (including $300 cash) from my locked truck, then kids would have a heyday with these little add-ons.

Maybe someone can come up with a way to wire it into the security system?

if it's a new badge or on a trailer queen, it still has lots of color; if it's an old badge on a driven car, the color has worn off - that's about the only "rank" you'll see on the CTCI grill emblem. The emblem is the same for all CTCI members.

As for the TBN - make it plastic in keeping with the plastic grill. I'm afraid a metal emblem may be too hard/heavy on the grill.

                            Dot

Wow, that Bird has so many medallions on its grill that they almost block all the air flow!

I'm thinking something chrome wouldn't stand out so much. And I agree with you on the plastic issue. If they're plastic, if someone does try to steal them, they'd likely break the medallion before the grill.

Do those have pins that go through the grill, with threads on the end so that they'll tighten against the inside of the grill with a nut, or just how do they attach?
