Nah, Rosetta's not much into Native American or movie memorabilia ... her latest thing is quilting and all the paraphernalia associated with it. Believe me there is a lot and her sewing room is much bigger than my little space.

          Phil,
Yes, I am still doing them...though I have slowed down due to the cold temps. It makes it impossible to use the aerosol stripper outdoors and there is no way to use it indoors because of the odor.

I currently have one that I am working on for Dot Lang (a custom color) and as Bill mentioned, I have one in the wings for him.

Here's a chance to see what a DSB Beanstalk will bring these days. This one has obviously been displayed since the top is on the car. If you buy it, make sure the seller secures the top in the box appropriately.

And it looks like someone thinks a Vintage Mint Green is worth at least $119.98 with shipping. Maybe that's what happens when it's along time between appearances on eBay. Skip may still have some of these available at a reasonable price for members. Better get one now if he does.

Charlie was extremely lucky to get the Frits Merlot for same price he sold them for - that is for sure. Frits has said more than once he is out of the diecast repaint business - I think we can take him at his word. I have tried to coax him out of retirement to do a Torch Red Beanstalk model exactly like our car, but he has not budged.

As for my collection, I think I can easily count the 120+ metal diecast retrobird models listed in my signature in all scales including some multiples of the same model, some customs, some prototypes, and some company promos while sitting in my chair and typing this. I also have at least 12 plastic/resin retrobird models and one cloth (beanie baby type) one. Of these 130+ replicas, over 50 are Torch or Concept Red. Virtually all of them have been liberated from their original packaging - in general, I collect models not boxes. I did not include two donor diecasts - one Beanstalk 007 and one black Maisto - in this count. Someone help, I'm sick I tell you .....
But Paul is there a pill you can take? At first you say 120+ and then 130+ WOW! Makes my wonder if you are the TBN diecast King? I have my doubts. Your wife probably knows the exact number!

So Paul, what do you (and others) think about the VMG offered on Ebay? Is it worth the price? I guess it's all a matter of how badly someone wants one. I don't think Skip has any more of the rarer colors left. Maybe he'll post to this thread and let us know.

Well the VMG has an opening offer of $99.99 plus $18.99 shipping for a total of $118.98.

The blue is up to $60 with $12.99 shipping with two bidders and 6 full days plus to go.

As Arte Johnson's 'German Officer' used to say, Very..........................

Think I'll start another excel spreadsheet for "Other Beanstalk" just for grins.

Me thinks once Charlie sees these values, he'll start selling off the Fun Funds Closet to buy Margaret's new computer.

Actually Bill, it was Arte Johnson's 'German Officer' who said "Very Interesting."

Sgt Schultz from 'Hogan's Heros' was famous for "I see noth-ink!"

Anyway, an excel for the Beanstalks would be a great idea.

And IF Charlie decides to sell some of his diecasts, you can bet there will be plenty of demand for his Merlot. I think he has at least one.

                    Charlie, what say you?

Someone stole a Whisper White a few minutes ago. It might have been me, but I was too slow on the cell phone. Funny thing, when I first saw it there we 3 watchers! Watchers at this price! Guess they were watching someone make a heck of a deal. Anyone here get this one?

Re: 1/18th Die Cast Model Values

Paul I need some help here. I have searches set up for 2002-2003 and 2004 1:18 thunderbirds as well as Merlot 1:18 Thunderbirds. Didn't see this one. Wouldn't have bid on it but would have watched so WW average thread could have been updated. Since the Christmas Eve $30 Merlot, I've elected to run these advanced searches two or three times a day but still didn't see this one. Was this a BIN that someone snatched (really three watchers), do I have my search set up wrong, or was it just ill timing. Just asking as I will find that elusive Merlot before I die (God Willing--just got my Ash Wednesday ashes -gotta be careful 'bout what ya say!)

Re: 1/18th Die Cast Model Values

Bill, I don't think your searches are necessarily flawed. I don't think searches always pick up all the possibilities for some unexplained reason.

As for this particular auction, it was listed for a $24.95 opening bid with the $32.95 buy it now. Obviously, the seller had no clue what the model would bring with open bidding. By the time I saw the auction 3 people had put it on their watch list. I clicked BIN but by the time I was able to pay for it, evidently someone else had clicked BIN and paid faster.

Searches are not going to pick up BIN bargains except by shear luck, because they can literally be over in a matter of seconds. I just happened to stumble on to this, otherwise unless someone did a search on sold items we would have never known.

I could see putting this on watch if it was an open ended auction, but with a low BIN it was going to be gone fast.

I was watching just not interested in WW.
We're lighter. We're faster. If that don't work, we're nastier.
                            We're gonna make history.

You missed a golden opportunity to easily double and probably triple your money. Not that money is that important, but unexpected easy money is always fun.
